So guys, let me say that you are going in a no-endway like this...
The game has some rules cos there are needed. Some sules can be change, but if i can understand your idea, i would not do those rules because it is the start of nowhere. Change this, change that, and the game will not be the same at all.

Longshot: I certainly agree that this rule is not the most necessary one that has been proposed.
However I do not agree that this rule would mean changing the game: the benefits from different positions should be small enough not to inbalance the game so it really shouldn't change too much. This is much more a flavour rule: the benefits of new positions are not the main point, the definitions of prestige positions are.
I would like to define when a Troll Slayer can be called a Giant Slayer and when a human lineman is good enough to be called a blocker.

So are you saying that you actually pay out from your treasury the players cost increase?
If this is the case then the idea is getting close to being brilliant. Strict rules on what increases are needed for each Prestige Position are required though.

I like the idea but seems to complex. You need to add to the roster every prestige positions.
for example for every team.
I prefer keep it simple and allow people with strength 4+ getting strength skills and agility 4+ getting agility skills(In the fact this almost already the case see elves and big guys).
for example

Although Trambi's suggestion has some elegance to it, and would certainly make AG and ST increases a lot more valuable than what they are now, I'm still going for my original version.
Furelli: I wasn't thinking that the team should pay money for the upgrade, but that is one possibility. It seems arbitrary, of course, (player needs to be paid moeny in order to be called what he already is) but could work.
I was thinking more about simply increasing his value, thus affecting the teams TR by a point or two.
When you pay money for that increase, then the TR wouldn't increase but would stay the same (because of the loss of money).

I sketched an example using the dwarf team. You'll notice that there are only small benefits from achieving the prestige positions. I'm not sure about the requirement for the blocker position though - also I'm open to suggestions whether the higher Slayer rankings should give some additional benefits like +1AV?
Dwarven Prestige Positions:

That is not a bad idea BUT is can't be used easily. Too much rules, kill the rules and so the game.

Mestari : I'm afraid but it's too complex. Cos You have to change the whome team rosters.
I prefer an automatic rule for allow strength skills for strength 4+ and agility skills for agility 4+. I think it's a good alternative and it's very simple.

Trouble is that you'll end up with some real monster players that will negate the inherent drawbacks of any given roster. ST4 players don't have access to AG skills for good reasons, likewise AG4 players and ST skills. perhaps limit this rule to linemen 
I think it's logical to a lineman with strength of 4 to focus his training on strength skills. The same thing for agility. In my mind, players (or linemen) with characteric increase(s) are to be more specialized.
