Back ache while painting sucks

Post by Ewan »

Any tips for relieving back ache after being hunched over mini's all day?

Lie on floor straight out helps a bit.

Try changing up your workstation a bit... maybe raise the work area to a higher level.

ibuprofen works a treat but maybe a better solution is moving your working environment around

Do some light exercise that works the back and shoulders... stretch those muscles out again. :)

Jeez. I've have back trouble due to painting for about 7 years. Juck101 was always moaning about my posture.
I've had physio for it in the past but at the end of the day there ain't a lot I can do about it. My girlfriend will push down on it and make it crack quite often but I can't really see it ever clearing up.

Can't really suggest anything really. Keep flexing it, I guess. But I'm a fine one to talk.

I found out that holding a mini at eye level helps achieve a better posture and relieve backache. I use a small box on my table to prop up the mini.
Swimming is a good exercise for the back.

Just put some books in pile to raise your fig and hands (i believe you put your wrists against the table for stability ?) at eyes level.

I also got that problem..
but it's also because my sleepingbed is bending down.. and that causes back ache too.. and no I don't paint on my bed !
and now I have a new bed so I hope that helps

I'll try some of the tricks.

thing is....

raising model to eye level creates much more shake than having both hands touching the table... so is not desirable for good quality painting..

in addition to my bad back, I have to stop painting every few hours as my hands cramp up too....

if my table were a lot higher that might help I guess...

Or your chair lower...

My poor Norse, I know what you're saying. Now it's my eyes that can't stand miniatures more than a couple of hours.
