Ordering "random" minis from GW.

Post by undeadair »

I recently ordered 2 BOBs from GW Mail Order to flesh out my team and although the online store said "random", I ended up with 2 of the exact same BOB models. This wouldn't be such a tragedy except for the fact that I already had one of that style anyway, so that makes 3 BOBs of the same model. I'm tempted to place an order for another one the next time I shop there, but I'm afraid I'll just the get same one again. Unfortunately I have no local game shop with a respectable BB section. I have 3 painted BOBs (2 of the same and one different) and I know I'll eventually need a fourth, but having 3 of the same makes me cringe.

Is there any way to request a specific model when ordering, or do I have to take my chances again?

Thanks in advance.

I asked once whether I could specify which 'random models' I wanted, when I was ordering Ogres. I was told they didn't have time, and so I ended up with 6 packs of Ogres, all containing the same parts. When I complained, I was told I should have ordered by part, so I pointed out that that increases the price dramatically. Cue smug Troll on the other end of the phone.

IMHO I reckon they deliberately don't do random, just so you order 4 minis in the hope of getting 2 different

MO Trollz are just like any other retail monkey, in that they will lie to make their lives easier. You have to basically tell them exactly what you want...

Thats the biggest reason I've been hesitant in ordering Ogres from GW. There are some nice ones, but others...... And have you noticed that they haven't even bothered giving each BB head a seperate code? Its random! And some of those heads are great, but darn it, some are less than spectacular. Thats why I just ordered a bunch of Heresy Ogres. 3 heads with each!

Thanks for the advice yet again, everyone.

I ordered the BOB I wanted (#2 for the curious - I like him far better than #1) and for the hell of it ordered the human referee figure cause I thought he'd be fun to paint.

Thanks for helping a newbie with his stupid questions!

I had the same problem when I ordered my Ogre team. They sent me 6 near identical ogres ALL with the crap legs. Anyway I gave them a call to complain and they said I could send any that I wasnt happy with back and I would recieve a full refund for them and then I could place a new order specifying which ones I did want. I even sent them a letter pictures of the heads I wanted incuded and the heads I didnt want incuded the second tiem round and they were fine with that. It cost a a fair bit extra in the end though.

Yes I have.
 Damn ogre heads, I have 14 heads I don't intend to use and still can't get the one I'm looking for.
