I'd recommend detol as well, it stinks but there's no fumes and it's safe for plastics too.

I did a huge batch of my figs in it and they are as good as new. If you've got lots of black though it can go a bit funny,

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

Yes, Dettol is good and it does strip plastic but it's only downside is it doesn't dissolve superglue so a slot full of glue cannot be cleared really.

Still good stuff though and of course, it will leave your figs smelling really clinical and germ free!

I'm not sure about European availability, but if you're looking to salvage the bases or if you ever need to strip plastics, definitely look for either Simple Green or Castral SuperClean. They'll strip paint excellently from both metal and plastic and never harm the plastic.

I use the Castrol Super Clean and it works great on both plastic and metal. There are a few things it doesn't take off though. I don't know what detol is but I can't believe that Nitromors is Pine-sol. I've never had much luck with Pine-sol.

I use plain old acetone, and it works for me. I've used Nitro Mors before, and it's good (as long as you don't try and do too many minis at once...it can get a bit gungy.) but acetone does the job just as well - admittedly slower, but with lot less mess and the fumes are nowhere near as bad. I can get a litre bottle for about two quid from the local Art supply shop. (Reminds me...I've just run out and I've just won a bunch of stuff on ebay).
