Something that did used to help was to have my painting board on my bed and then kneel and paint thus keeping my back arched.

Raising the minis to eye level might result in more unwelcome shade; a second lamp can get rid of that problem. When I paint, I have three anglepoise lamps and an overhead light going - Bonus: I get a tan whenever I paint. And ruin my eyes at the same time.

Classic. I didnt have glasses until about a year after I REALLY got into painting. I've went through several chairs, but still havent found one that keeps the back pains and elbow cramps away. Maybe that whole exercise suggestion might help...lol it just seems so hard I didnt get where I am today by exercising and staying in shape

Munkey always had one of those cool orthopaedic chairs with no backs which you kneel on. That was quite good.

I find lowering my chair works wonders...if I dont my backs killing me after half an hour, if I do I can go on quite a while, just untill my i start shaking...

Good lighting helps aswell, i found out that trying to find the right angle of light doesnt help the back and neck either...

but lowering the chair (or getting a few gobbo's to lift the desk/table) is a fine sollution.

Maybe something like this could do the trick? I don't know if these things really work, when i tried to sit on one, my back started to ache sooner or later (maybe i takes some time to get used to the posture?)

Just did a quick search on it, so don't blame me if it's the most expensive chair around ;)

Yeah, that looks like it. A bit pricey though. Not sure if you can get one cheaper.
