Strength increase for Troll or a skill/trait selection?

Post by Mic »

I've got a friend who's just got a double 6 for his first skill roll on his Troll.
He is playing an Orc team that includes two goblins. I personally believe that he should take the strength increase, but he is uncertain.

Could I get some suggestions on whether he should take the Strength increase or whether he should take a selected skill/trait (if skill/trait which one and why).

Thanks.

yup, +ST is great. his troll will need one assist to get a 3db block on your regular ST3 player. when it gets Guard, it will be so unamovible his opponents will cry. and when it gets Break Tackle, they'll say bye bye to their cages.

take the strength, no question...there are very few cases where you wouldn't want the strength...and this isn't one of them.

Pretty much what I'd thought.

Break tackle actually doesn't sound too bad. After getting block I might suggest that to him.

What do you guys think?

Do you think Break Tackle as the third skill or something else?

Let me know.

Thanks

Definitely the +ST.

and break tackle will be really good, since he can dodge into 3 tz on a 3+... awesome for cage breaking

I would go witht he strength but if you play big guys with no general access, I would stop and think about taking block, but in the end you have to go with the strength. 8)

+ 1 ST all the way.

Then block and then break tackle. If you play big guys without general access than break tackle would be my choice for his second skill. Pro on doubles over stand firm (unless he's already managed to get break tackle, then go for stand firm)

That said, i've never had a Troll develop very quickly so it may take some time till he reaches his second, and especially third skills.

Not only does ST 6 give you 3-dice blocks with only one assist, but unless your opponent has an equally strong big guy he will have to scrounge around for at least two assists against the Troll. At the same time the troll gets 2-dice his choice when hitting other big guys one on one.

On a goblin team pass or pro might be useful for TTM but Orcs shouldn't need to rely on tha,t so ST no question.

The extra strength can give you a welcome edge over other strength teams. Funnily enough, it may well improve your 'agile' game, i.e. as soon as you get break tackle, dodging into cages will be even more reliable, being a 3+ instead of a 4+ when going into the typical three tackle zones of a cage. So yes, as everyone said here in this thread, definitely take the extra strength.

I would take the +1 ST but that is bcause I would take Multiple block as my second skill. Getting 2 blocks a turn with a troll is great and only needing one assist, ( preferrably with a Guard skilled BOB,) is awesome. Talk about cage breaking!!!

multiple block has strictly no cage-breaking use when the cage is, as should be, formed by 4 players at each diag of the ball carrier.
