Help with Lizardmen vs Khemri
HELP!!!
My next league game is against a brutal Khemri team: 4 Mummies with Guard (1 has Grab as well) 2 Blitz-Ras (1 with Mighty Blow), 2 Thro-Ras (1 with Kick-off return), 7 Skeletons.
My Lizardmen: 4 Saurus ( 1 Block, 1 Break Tackle), 6 Skinks (1 Side Step, 1 AG4 and block) and a Krox with Grab.
I'll have 120,000 in inducements.
My thought is to try and slow down the Mummies with the Krox, Blocker Saurus and a Journeyman Saurus bought with inducements, and use the other 2 Saurus to try and knock the Thro-Ras out of the game (all his TDs except 1 are from one of the Thro-Ras) Any thoughts on if this is a reasonable, or even possible way to go?

#1 - DESTROY THE THRO-RA(s) by any means possible. Hire a wizard if you have to. They are the only ones on this team who have any chance of picking up the ball.
#2 - Do not get into a pushing match with the mummies. They have only MA3. Use your speed to spread them out and possibly isolate them to eliminate their Guard advantage. Once they are on their own stick a boot in them. Let the mummies roam around and become ineffective. You need your Saurii for destroying the Blitz and Thro Ras.
#3 - You should be able to run circles around this team with your skinks. Keep them spread apart. The key to beating this team is using their lack of speed against them.
Use your inducements well and good luck!

I completely agree with bubb's advice.
I'll add:
- rely on your break tackling saurus to catch and anihilate the throw-ras preferably, as he is more 'agile'.
- watch out for your opponent who may well target your ag 4 skink. Do protect him, but not so much that you neglect the rest of your team to the extent that he can wipe them out, and ultimately finish that skink off.

I had been planning to use my Break Tackle Saurus as a blitzer, and I kind of regret giving Block to the other Saurus rather than Break Tackle!
Any thoughts on how to keep my Krox from getting slaughtered? I can't think of a way for him to get off the line and away from those Mummies, so hopefully AV9 and Tough will see him through.
Thanks for the tips guys!

your skinks are dead..
Here's what I'd do if I was the khemri.....smash all your skinks. foul them anything to get the skinks off the pitch.
To stop it I'd induce a free bribe. knock down a mummies and foul them off until you burn your bribe. The best way to beat a khemri team is to take out the mummies---all you gott roll is a KO for injury....then the rest break pretty easy.

Block is an absolute essential skill for Suarii....those are the guys who will be doing the blocking. You have no other options in theory. Don't beat yourself up on that one.ForceCommander wrote:I had been planning to use my Break Tackle Saurus as a blitzer, and I kind of regret giving Block to the other Saurus rather than Break Tackle!
Yup..that is how he going to play it. Classic way to beat lizardmengken1 wrote:Here's what I'd do if I was the khemri.....smash all your skinks. foul them anything to get the skinks off the pitch.
I only disagree with this if you are playing something other than lizzies. Every player on this team has twice as much or more movement than the mummies. I think you can limit your exposure greatly to their attacks. He is also going to need assists to get a decent block on them and now he is putting more of his team in harms way. He will also want to add assists to those fouls too. I am more worried about the blitzers to be honest.gken1 wrote:The best way to beat a khemri team is to take out the mummies---all you gott roll is a KO for injury....then the rest break pretty easy.

well i play khemri all the time at tournies and league games. The only times i lose is when i lose mummies. with your st you should be able to constantly knock down skeletons/blitzers and throwers. If you take out his mummies he won't be able to defend them.

I'm well aquainted with the need to keep my skinks out of harms way as much as possible!
I'd like to just skitter away from the mummies all game, but unfortunately I have at least 4 players that won't be able to dodge away from ANYthing (the Krox and the non-break tackle saurus), and I'm not going to get many decent blocks against S5 guarders.
That's why I am thinking about freebooting a Saurus to put on the line along with the Block Saurus (to help with the dice) and the S5 Krox (to provide at least a bit of muscle).
I had toyed with the idea of putting 3 Saurus on the line and using the other 2 plus the Krox as threats to his Thro and Blitz ras, but I think I need the Krox's muscle on the line.

Hi,
if you can keep your Skinks away from the Mummies
, I think you should be able tu pull off a win (esp. with your AG4 Skink, dodging everywhere on 2+
). There are only two players with Block and NO players with Tackle on his team, so he should really have a hard time getting your skinks down!
And I would strongly recommend you getting a wizard, the "Fireball" is devastating against any "undead" team. Believe me
, I'm playing "classic" Undead and I have been f*cked up several times by a wizard myself
. Just before his cage is in reach of your endzone, cast the spell and watch them go down. If the Ballcarrier should not go down, now there surely will be a hole in his cage, allowing you to blitz him with 2 dice. This way you can prevent him from scoring and you might even turn him over with your fast skinks and score yourself.
Oops
, that's a long post but I hope it helps you out.
Best regards,
Tante Käthe.

We agree to disagree. I think if you have the ability to take out the mummies than go to it. The problem is getting these particular mummies w/guard down...and keeping them down.gken1 wrote:well i play khemri all the time at tournies and league games. Now, he is going to use his suarus players and krox trying to knock mummies down leaving his skinks wide open for a beating from the blitzers and fouls from the skeletons. This is exactly what I would want to happen if I were the khemri coach.

Taking 1 of those mummies off the pitch won't be easy even if all you're looking for is a KO.
I think your best bet is to tie the mummies up with a saurus for them to hit, or put them on the ground and move on to his Thro-Ra. They should be your primary target with whoever can hit them, and your break tackle saurus is ideal for getting them with a blitz. Go for injuries by fouling if you have to but I wouldn't bother if you've already got a stun.
Keep your focus on the ball and don't hesitate in chasing down the Thro-Ras. If you can't spread the mummies apart and if you give your opponent too much time you'll probably struggle to break a Khemri cage.
Watch out for his Mighty Blow blitz-ra though. If I was him I'd be blitzing a skink with that guy every turn I can't hit one with a mummy. His lack of tackle will help but your lack of block won't.

if you take a bribe....you should be able to get a mummy of in 2 fouls. even stun tho takes them out of the play for the most part.
I personally think bribe is one the mos powerful inducements.
