Dwarf Blitzer with first skill
Thanks for your advice on my dwarven lineman, i think i will choose sidestep
One of my Blitzers has also a skill advancement. Just a normal.
Should i go for:
Mighty Blow: more CAS
Strip Ball: always nice on defense
Tackle: 2 Chaos, 1 Chaos Dwarf, 1 Khemri, 1 Vampire, 1 Dwarf and 1 Drak elf team in my league, so i think there is much need for an additional Tackler
Guard: better blocking

Guard or Mighty Blow.
I would probably do Guard, but most people will probably suggest mighty blow. They say guard traps 1/2 your AG 3, higher MOV players into lineplayers. I think dwarfs win by smashing opponents and "caging", and guard helps a ton. And the more guard you have, the better it gets.
I am a fan of having 8 guarding players on the pitch, with only your two TS and lone runner without it.
I leave Strip ball on my runner(s). They function as backfield sweepers, while Blitzers rush upfield. Most throwers have sure hands, so Strip ball is a waste, IMO.
edit: oh yeah, I would stay away from tackle. With no stuny teams or amazons, 5/6 linemen is enough tackle in my book, or atleast enough so that you should selected as a first skill.

Guard i would say, mighy blow is nice, but it depends if you already have guarders.
guard + his ag3 means he will get to where he is needed a lot faster then a beard.

looks like there isn't much need for tackler.Karedwyn wrote:Tackle: 2 Chaos, 1 Chaos Dwarf, 1 Khemri, 1 Vampire, 1 Dwarf and 1 Drak elf team in my league, so i think there is much need for an additional Tackler
I'd go strip ball...only 2 of those teams start with surehands.
guard is best for the lineman.

Strip Ball is the way I vote. I think that a real key to any team devlopement is developing good quality defencive players. Blitzers are the key to getting at the ball carrier with thier mix of speed and agility. Troll Slayers are good for opening wholes to ball carrier but bad at making the dodge roll to get to him. Runners are fast and agile enough but that measn sacrificing Offencive potential for your team. Hence it leaves the blitzers to get to the ball and get the ball.
With only the few SH guys in your league allready, I think that he will become a nasty surprise for folks. Especially so, when the ball bounces in the middle of a scrum, to one of his lucky line men. Concider this, Strip ball works on 3 out of 6 results on the block dice. Both push backs and the defender stumbled results. Granted not many players will have dodge so you could argue that the ball carrier was going dwon anyway, hence lost the ball. But for those few who do have dodge, he is still gonna cough it up anyway, even though his player will maintain his feet.
You always gotta have at least one player with SB, IMHO. The earlier the better.

how is it 3 out of 6? isnt it 4? 2 pushbacks, pushback/pow, and pow.DwarfFanatic wrote:Concider this, Strip ball works on 3 out of 6 results on the block dice. Both push backs and the defender stumbled results. You always gotta have at least one player with SB, IMHO. The earlier the better.
And ayway, i prefer giving strip ball to a runner, ad the blitzer is slower, and the runner is usually the last line of defense, when you would really need strip ball.

I don't like strip ball becuase the Khemri will have sure hands or it will be a first skill on the Blitz-Ra. The chaos and chaos dwarf team will most certainly attempt to get some sure hands quickly so how long do you think that Strip Ball will be useful?
Guard is ALWAYS a useful skill at any level.
OK I know Strip Ball is a great defensive skill..I just don't think so in this situation on this team at this time
