Just how rare?

Well, had it been specifically sculpted for that pose, the elbow guard would have had the narrow portion toward the front and the wider, elbow covering, portion toward the back where the elbow would be. The mini in question still has the elbow guard pointing up as in the arm's original position.

I'm looking at the Thrower 2 mini right now and I don't think that hand has been replaced. There's no need to bend the finger at all. If it was simply cut off and the metal shaved with a exacto blade, it would look exactly like what Dain's picture shows.

This is a nice, clean conversion. The finger can use a little more work, looking at it now, but a good paint job would cover any of the small flaws that can be seen in the bare metal.
