I just found out my next opponent in my league is going to be against a lizard team whose coach is heavy on the beating. 1 Krox, 5 saurus, and 5 skinks. My buddy who I consider to be a proficient BB player went up against the team with Orcs and said he simply couldnt do anything against the Lizzies most of the game. While I would have put money on an easy win for this particular coach, he barely squeaked out a win in turn 7 of OT. So I'm a little apprehensive of putting my elves on the field against these particular lizards
My initial thought was to try and wear down the saurii... but with 5 of them out there, plus a krox, i feel like that would be handing my elves over to the slaughter come his next turn. So instead I'm thinking that if I can one-up the skinks and put some of them down, hopefully I can clear the field of them and just have to worry about running/throwing around his beaters. With AG1 I don't think I'd have too many problems getting a ball past/over them. It's just how many elves would get run over while I move the ball towards the endzone.
Should I even try winning this one, or simply hope to have as many elves left as possible by the end of the game? Any advice would be much appreciated.
One crucial point is the decisions to mark or not mark his saurii. If you mark one, he won't get away, but he'll get you down. If you don't, he can move 6-8 steps freely. That's a lot.
With AV8, don't be afraid to tie up all the important saurii during a crucial moment. But as soon as they are out of the action - for example, when you've got the ballcarrier well on his way with some protection - dodge out.
Don't bother blocking the saurii unless you happen to get a good position to do it, i.e. on your first turn on offense. Normally, it ties up too many of your players.
Remember to use a Block guy for the 'blitz the skink' of every turn. With only 11 players he'll get into big trouble if you get a few of them.
Oh, and watch out for the Krox. That tail makes him tricky. Don't let him get his TZs all over your players. Unless you can plan your TZs to avoid the krox moving into more than two of your players, tie him up with a single lineman.
Yes, with AV 8 and AG 4 you can afford to tie down the Sauruses (Sauri?)
only when you need to.
Bear in mind that they are fast though. And always tie them down when he's got the ball or you'll have a saurus cage on your half the first turn of his drive, and a skink in your end zone the second.
Deploy a catcher offensively to capitalize on poor skink ball-handlingas well.
I agree with gken1, Skink-hunting is the only good way 2 play against them with elves. Often ist better to form a line then tie the lizzies with our elves. If you can take out 2 or 3 Skinks it will be more possible to make Touchdowns against his team, just dont try it on the "hard way"

Nah, never trust your AV-rolls to win the match for you.
If you tie up all his baddies one-on-one, you've still got 5 players to move the ball. To stop those, he'll have to use his skinks more aggressively then they're made for...
Defense will be tough as long as all those skinks are up and running, but hopefully you can force him to score quickly or take risks. Since his ball-handling skills are a major weakness, you'll stand a very good chance in a match with many drives.
Always be blitzing the skinks with players with Block (and ideally tackle). Killing them will win you the game.
Generally unskilled Saurus aren't too dangerous and tying them down with linemen is worth it, but beware of the long term consequences - losing players permanently can ruin the team.
alright thanks for the suggestions everyone. like gken said, it looks like skink hunting we will go. Since my team only has two games under its belt I'll use the blitzers to take down the skinks (the only lino who's skilled so far, I gave kick to. will hopefully get one, maybe two with block after this game which will help in taking on the amazons after I get done with the lizzies), tie up the saurii only when i need to, and run general interference with the rest of the line. Hopefully I can come out of this game not only with a win, but without too many cas against me from having those saurus beating on the linos who need to tie them down. heh.
