Ideas for a three player league?

Post by jonah78 »

To start off - there just aren't more enthusiastic bb players in our friends (yet)... just the three of us: me and my two buddies. We are all quite a newcomers to this fantastic game - although I played my share of games back in the day - the start of nineties or something like that.

So,me and my two buddies have all now gotten our teams of choice (I play skaven, the other guy undead and the other lizzies). And now to my guestion: what would be your suggestion for the arrangement of a three player league? Everyone plays each other twice, maybe three times..? What about the points for winning etc.? I would greatly appreciate any comments and suggestions, as the majority of talk about getting a league started is about leagues with many many players more than we can summon up at this time... Thanks in advance for any experiences and comments! Cheers! :)

Just play eachother a few times, and the guy with the highest TR wins.

You could play till... say 150 TR, and then all start a new team. when they reach 150 also, just pick your favorite team and play a final.

I have a "home leaugue" with 3 friends of mine. 2 of the teams are at 200+ (210 at most), so we started up new teams. As soon as we have 4 teams, with 4 different players at 200, we're going to play death-bowl... a free for all, 4 teams at the same time on the pitch, game.

We'll decide a winner of the league first (most TD, most CAS, etc.), and decide a winner after the deathbowl too... then we're all going to start over again.

Hope this helps... JaM

hi ya jonah78,

we used play a league with two players so we used to play each other three times at three points a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. then after each set of games play one of the tournies starting with the spike, then the dungeon, then the chaos and fininshing with the blood bowl.

this used to work quite well as it gives your team a nice time to develop and is also most importantly a good laugh, but really just decide amongst yourselves what will suite you best and the time you have available. you may even consider entering a couple of teams each to buff the league up a bit....but its totally up to you.

phil

oh and by the way, welcome to TBB

Hello and welcome ;-)
When we first started our league, we were 4 players. We decided to have two teams each and played with each team against each other team (except your own second team) twice. At the end we played a tourney were each coach decided which was his "A" and his "B" team and played a "knock out" tourney, where it was only possible to meet his own team in the finals. if that happened the coach had to decide which team goes to the final and which had to play for the 3rd place...

Hope that gave you an idea of what we did

I also play in a league with 3 coaches. Each coach has several teams, I have 5, another 4 and the third has 3.
That's 12 teams and each team plays the other once. And when your own teams are up against each other, another coach simply plays for the weaker of the two teams.

Or each of you creates 3 (4) teams, then you play every other guy's teams once, with the usual 3 points for victory, 1 point for tie and 0 points for loss, and then add up the total of all your games to decide on the winner.

If you like play a tourney between the top teams of each coach. Or roll a di(c)e. :)

I'd recommend recruiting some more players.

I'd also recommend not committing to a league with just the three of you as the combination of opponents that you will face will get boring very quickly.

Don't play at home, try to play at some games store. This way you might attract more players.

I'd make 2 teams each and play either a 4 or 8 game series where you play all the teams but your own second team (either once or twice)
