Odin wrote:Yes, i welcome any feedback, my comment was in jest, but criticism without a suggestion to better the model is just plain tactless. IMO

Tell me what you think can be done to improve the areas you dont like. That would be a more constructive critique. Then, i can apply or disregard your comments depending on what i may agree with. :)

I am not the kind of painter that leans toward the flashy, bright , frilly colors. As you may have seen with my models in the past (i.e. My Chaos Team) i tend to go with more life-like realistic colors. I'm not even sure my Goblins will be a bright green! 8)

I am always looking for ways to better my skills, so please expand on the critiques if they are on the negative side. :D
:D
I think the skin looks like you only used 2 layers of highlighting/shading
if you add maybe one or two layers of higlighting I think the skin comes out a lot nicer, but that also makes the skin brighter and as you say you don't like that... well you shouldn't do it I think ( Always paint the way you like!!)

the yellow just doesn't look realy nice blended, maybe a few extra layers there too.

and that right hand, you probably removed a weapon there, and drilled a hole in it, the idea is good but the hole is just to big, and naturaly that space isn't a perfect circle.

and about the model... well I just don't like it, I use an converted 2nd ed troll and a warhammer stontroll for my goblins.

and as I play goblins for fun, winning is almost impossible with them, I made my goblin team quite bright and fun looking, not realy serious.

I'm not saying I'm a better painter, we just have quite different style.

I think that camera really picked up the transition too much. I actually have 5 shades of color built up in the skin as well as a slight black wash in areas. I think the last layer of color was just too much of a transition from the last.
the yellow just doesn't look realy nice blended, maybe a few extra layers there too.
I looked at that after your original comment and i agree completely. This area will be re-done. I guess thats what you get when you push yourself to paint until 2 am. :D

The hand was intentionally left like that so i could graft on a goblin when i get them next friday.
and about the model... well I just don't like it, I use an converted 2nd ed troll and a warhammer stontroll for my goblins.
I seriously considered using a stone troll and a water troll but I just wanted to be a bit different on my trolls, thinking many people used the Fantasy trolls.
and as I play goblins for fun, winning is almost impossible with them, I made my goblin team quite bright and fun looking, not realy serious.
Good point. Being that this is basically my 5th team, i just wanted to see what i could come up with :D

Fantastic - that looks great... :o

And after the praise a suggestion: As you're actually acting on feedback I wonder if the silver looks a bit too clean and shiny? It could well be the camera/flash but that chainmail looks very 'new' - maybe a bit of brown/black ink wash might tone it down a little?

This is hardly worth mentioning as it looks fantastic already..
