New skill - Bump off.

Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

New skill - Bump off.

Post by duff »

No, not an assassination attempt, the ability to bump away from a tackling opponent to contiue running.
I see it a a general skill where a blitzing player who gets both down can instead choose to be pushed back to the eligible square of his choice and keep moving. The eligible squares are the 3 that would be available if the blitzed player scored a pushback.

I think you would still get knocked over unless you have block. It's a neat skill, but not useful enough in my opinion. Who would take it as a third pick?

Hi,
well - maybe if you didn't get knocked over even without block.
That would make it more useful - and slightly reduce the power of the ever present block skill.
Then again, it would start to look a lot like the vaults juggernaut skill.

Cheers
Martin

It differs in that it allows the runner to slip free rather than pushing the opponent, so it's a weaker skill which has general access.

so it's a skill that garrentees that a blitzer will be free to move without dodgeing after his blitz on a guy who was standing alone...

yep. ... if he got a both down. push back v stand firm/sidestep still calls for a dodge of course

Hey

I like this idea, it doesn't make sense that a player would put himself in harms way to get away from a player he has already hit, but the sad news is that me norse blitzers wouldn't get much use from it. :(

Imagine flying into someone else's country and killing it's leader with a cane. And then taking all thier money. Well he's Scrouge McDuck and I guess he can do whatever the flip he wants.

How would it interact with frenzy?

I don't see it effecting frenzy at all...

a) you couldn't frenzy after a 'both down' result

b) if the blitzer uses the skill they are stepped back to a non-adjacent square and thus they wouldn't get to frenzy.

so with or without the skill there would be no 2nd block from frenzy.

Your catchers would probably the ones to take it on, if anyone.
