I'm still testing ... not too happy with the colors right now ... the plan way black/blue stripes and grey pants, but there's quite some metal on those figs and i can't blend it in ... so i might restart with something completly different.Djengis_Khan wrote:is the colour scheme blue and black??
I like a little variety in the team, so that every single Ogre looks different. It's also a useful identifier once you get skills (e.g. "The Ogres with shoulder pads have Block") The shoulder pads are quite ugly imo, so i used them only on a few Ogres. Plus i have 4 Ogres with 2 full-size shoulder pads in case the roster changes to 0-4 Blockers (or something else) at any time.and why do some of them have shoulderpads and others dont??![]()
Same here ... variety and skill identification. I don't think that Ogres and Gobbos will spend much time looking for their gear ...same as with the gobs.. some have pads and others... or I can't see them on the pic, also possible.
Yes greenstuffed, thanksyou greenstuffed the ball in the hand of that flying one? looks realy good in the primer, most of the time you see little flaws very good when only primered.

Like others said already, he's not tripping, he's performing a wrestling style elbow drop (in Blood Bowl terms: He's "Piling On"). It's pretty close to a tripping pose and i actually thought of adding the banana skin, but i decided against it. I really had to live with the default leg poseI like the trippping ogre, but think he looks not enought tripping...

If you ever tried to work with these Ogres, the word "BEND" would be erased from your mindmaybe if you'd bend the right leg, the one in the air a bit down it would look better I think.

- Charging Ogre 1 has the left leg cut at the hip , half the hip removed and remodeled with greenstuff.
- Charging Orge 2 has the left leg cut at the knee, material removed, and reattached with greenstuff and a lot of greenstuff added to the belly to give the upper body a more upright position.
- the Thrower with the ball again has a belly modelled in the front to give the upper body a more upright position.
- Leaping Ogre has right shoe cut off and redone plus the hand cut off and replaced by a ball holding one.
- Elbow Drop Ogre has the left shoes cut off an remodelled, he also attached to the base with a massive pin going up almost to the knee.
- additionally almost all of the Ogres have the back of their heads redone, as the heads sit a little low between the shoulders for my taste and the back of the heads is kinda flat and unnatural.
Yeah #1 is a bit static and boring. Guess i'll replace or modify him. All the Gobbos (but #4 who came with the Goblin Throwing Ogre) are built from a mix of Nightgoblin (most legs and bodies) and regular Goblin (heads, arms) plastic sprues. The legs of #5 and the lower legs of #6 are from the Wolf Rider sprue. the flying gobbo also has quite some greenstuff on him (ball+holding hand, hip, pilots' googles). The tricky bit was finding an open hand for #6 ... guess where i found thatThe goblins are realy cool !! only goblin nr1 isn't great... looks a bit silent not as happy to play as the rest !

That's true for almost any of these Ogres. Yes, prone and bonehead markers will be something I'll have to add to this team.Richy wrote:The leaping ogre looks great, but he's going to take up half the pitch when prone. Any plans for a few prone ogre markers?

thanks for the details tim !
maybe I was a bit too critical
don't know the minis good so..
about the colours:
the one ogre with the black and blue doesn't look great ... maybe when finished it would look better don't know..
maybe green and red would look cool... dark red and a bit lighter green..
but then it should be a green quite different as the goblins.. or paint the goblins an other skin colour..
the piling on guy does look more like piling on player now I look at it that way..

Hi there,
I thought that I could post my own Ogre-WIP in this thread and maybe get some advice from some of the great painters here at TBB
.
When I was searching around for new Ogre-heads (only 3 out 7 heads were different
...) Tim told me:

And now to my question: how should I highlight the red color? I tried highlighting to white but it didn't come out right
. Maybe yellow? And do you highlight only the "edges" or also some elevated areas?
Thanks in advance for your help (and thanks to Mad Mike for hosting
),
Tante Käthe.

So here's what I did for my Oger-Team "Maneater United":And finally, modelling a decent helmet onto an Ogre head is not very difficult!

Nice colors BTW... i like the blue gobbo ! Nice overall contrast...
about highlighting red.... i think you started with a too bright red. So, if to highlight this bright color maybe try a mix of red/orange and later maybe little red/ yellow at the edge.
Sorry, no time at the moment... will come back later. Damm Job !

Helmet looks cool, i told you it's easy
Regarding the red, i agree with traveller that you should start with a darker red and use the color you have now as the brightest highlight. Better contrast with the yellow, plus easier to highlight without going to orange/yellow. Highlighting red to white will result in a pinkish look, probably not what you are looking for.

@Tim:
, but took me at least 2 hours until I was satisfied with result
- so I took the easy way and traded some heads (as you should know
).
I'm currently converting the Cheerleader into a player - that woman has even bigger/thicker arms than the male Ogres
! While exchanging one hand and one lower arm I had to file down the lower arm of that lady to make the "tiny"
Ogre hands/arms fit...
As for the red color, I wanted to go for bright colors so I think I will keep this color as a base and try to highlight to orange and yellow - let's see how it will come out.
Thanks and Cheers,
Tante Käthe.
