twin river league...16 years and still going strong
hi guys, just thought i'd let you know about my league and my players. we are 16 this month and we play 2 seasons a year. yes thats right, seasons. we play just like the NFL or NHL. we play in my hugh basemant and we have 25-30 players. about 10 of us are from the paper days.the rest have joined over the years and we're all friends. we have zero problems with drop out coaches.each coach plays 2 games a night(saturday is bloodbowlnight) and a fun time is had by all. i know this style of league play is forign to most of you, but i think its only becouse most people don't have a tight group like we do. we even have 4 wives/girlfriends who play. and heres another crazy way we play: we have a index card star player file and it has about 130 star players! most are gw stars and many were culled from the net. some are home grown, like king tough, a mummy. or big moe, a rat ogre, to name but a few. and more crazy still is once purchased, stars stay on your teams until dead, dropped or traded. nobody in our league likes freebooted stars. i myself don't understand the big to-do over this. its a point bases system, people! if your dumb enoug to buy stars and have less to spend on other things, fine. i had a new player say to me after his first league night,"my star player did great, but nobody else got much in the way of spps. and thats what i think every time sombody cries about star players and there place in our great game. star players rule, ok. stop bashing them.

my league
we do track injuries. really, when the freebooter rules came out, we had a club vote to see who wanted to use them. nobody did! even new people who have joined our league have come over to our clubs way of running our league. remember, we've been playing leagues scince the first league rules were published in the late 80s.so it was just ok to stay with what worked for us. we don't have to worry about how many people will turn up to play. and i'll bet we have the longest consistantly running league in the us, imho. no brag, fact. and its only becouse its a core of friends. league runs great!
