It is slow allright, but the high AV means that it is the only elf team that can survive against bashy teams and still have 11 players for second half.
I was referring to this bit... High elves with MA 5 and Av 9
In effect Ag 4 orcs. Not elf like at all!
Some "elfy skills" ought to be the way to beef up the team. Elves have suffered since the new rules made cage breaking harder...

In which case you already have my reply.
MA5 AV9 high elfs is nothing like playing an orc team.
Lack of ST4 players, lack of ST-skills, and no big guy makes playing these high elves very very different to coaching orcs.
These high elves have a unique feel, which I think is important in a game with 4 elf teams.
Well, it is the House Rules section and Plasmoid's idea (are you the one I stole that from?) certainly fits the bill.
I haven't actually tried it at all but it does sound like it would be an interesting team to play.
The basic concept seems to be based around the three basic teams:
Humans, Skaven (+1ma -1av) and Orcs (-1ma +1av).
Now do the same thing (roughly) with ag 4 and you have:
Dark Elves, Wood Elves (+1ma -1av) and the suggested High Elves (-1ma +1av).
It seems like an interesting approach. I'd imagine they'd play a bit like orcs - but instead of grinding the cage down the pitch, you can dodge away and reposition. I don't think this will make them particularly stronger on the whole but it does make them a little different and, at high TR, gives them better developed players (less turnover from high av). Just grab some well-armored WFB minis and you're good to go.
I'd certainly like to try it some time, just to see how they play.
Now I can't really say what will work in a 3rd Ed. League, but 4 Lion Warriors are certainly nice. Think of them as unskilled Wardancers... same stat line, only you get 4 of them. If you really want to give them a boost, try giving the LWs Dodge to start with, as well, although that may be a bit too much.
