Anyone help a beginner?
hi all,
just got my copy of BB and i am currently painting up my minitures.
one problem...
....no-one to play against and no-one to learn how to play from! (hate reading instructions).
so are there any gamers nearby? i am in a town called Sandy in Bedfordshireand dont know many people up here as i moved up from london a while ago.
I only have the basic game as it stands, so if anyone out there can help, please let me know =o)

For a beginning player, orcs have less of a 'frustration factor'. With their higher AV they're harder to hurt. I've noticed beginning players have a tendancy to play a very physical game with whatever team they use. Often making too many one-die blocks. An orc team at least won't be swept off the feild doing this. It may be a little harder for orcs to score until the player learns the fundamentals of the 'cage', but nothing is more frustrating than playing without all your players. Plus, hurting another team is still great fun even if you don't score enough to win. And don't forget to buy 3 or 4(better) re-rolls for the starting team. Beginning players need them more than experienced players.

Got to agree with Thetian. Orcs are way better for the beginner than humans. Humans suck the fat one.

Well, I think humans are probably better to start with. They're more versatile and will challenge you more. With 4 bliters there's no need to be scared for injuries you've got throwers and catchers so you can play the passing game too. They also develop quite rapidly. Sure, you can bash alot with Orcs, but playing humans is better if you want to learn how to play.

Orcs really emphasise the bashing/running game and therefore don't offer as much variety and exposure to the different aspects of the game.
That said, both are good starting teams.

Maybe some clarification
Orcs are easier to play so you'll have more success with them.
Humans are a better team to learn to play the game with because they have more variety in their game play. That in turn should lead you more quickly to the sort of teams who's playing style suits you most.

You can also play a passing game with orcs!
They have the thrower with Sure Hands and Pass and they have the AG 3 same as humans. Main difference is the speed and the human catchers.
All aspects of the game are there same as humans. I don't see any difference except that orcs are tough to get of the pitch.
Orcs would be my advice.

WOOOHOOOO!!! finally after a week I have played my first game!!!! (well a half really)
it was very slow and involved a lot of page flicking but fially the OrkLand GoonerZ have felt the turf under foot and gore between their fingers!
i managed to get my GF to play(she's starting to want to play more now my team are nearly completly painted) so as you can imagine it was like the blind leading the blind. However we did manage to play a basic game with some stunning play on both parts!
so... a couple more basic games, and we'll be ready to start the more complex task of Extra Rules.
