DE Thrower

Post by DangerM0use »

MA 7
ST 2
AG 5
AV 8
Pass
Surehands

He is on 50 SP after my last game against WEs. (5 comp and the MVP woo!)
I was about ready to drop him after he lost that ST to a nasty injury roll, but then he leveled and gained AG making him far too valuable.
I earned enough from last game to purchase another thrower, so I now have Options(tm).
Im just not sure what to give him after next game when he will hit 51+ SPP and level.
With AG5 he is already throwing long bombs on a 4+. Should I give him accurate and make it a 3+, making him a long pass wizard?
With AG5 Leap is tempting, but his ST2 keeps him away from other players..
Should I work towards Block / Dodge to keep him alive? (Probably Dodge first)

Which leads to the next question:
How should I develop the new thrower given my current throwers stats.
Im thinking of handing him the shorter ranged throwing duties, maybe safe throw, dump off, dodge, block, and keep him closer to the action.

Ah I love Blood Bowl.
The choices!

Ordinary skill I'd go Accurate, doubles go to Strong Arm.

That would give him longbombs on 2+, with Safethrow you would have an incredible passing play.

Since DE is more of a running quickpassing team, I'd develop the second thrower to accompany your runners. Give him Block, Dodge, Sure Hands or similar skills to regain ballcontroll if lost.

I would develop the S2 guy as a long range passer - Accurate & Strong Arm are important for avoiding fumbles. The alternative is to use him as a ball getter (leap, dodge, sure hands) where his AG can be used effectively to get the ball in places other elves cannot go.

Yes, avoiding fumbles is why you need Accurate & Strong Arm like ianwilliams said.

AG5 - Long Bomb - Fumbbl 1-3, Precise 4-6 as the -2 penalty for Longbombs cannot be negated by AG, you need skills.

AG5 +Accurate +Strong Arm - Fumbbl 1, Precise 2-6.

Another one here in favour of giving accurate to that player, in particular for the fumbling reasons posted by Ian and Lamoron.
In addition, use that player on offense, that is when it's your team's turn to receive the ball. Keep him in the backfield, picking up the ball and staying there, passing at the next turn to one of your players in the opponent's half over enemy lines - that's where safe throw will come in handy next...

As to the other thrower, turn him into a defensive thrower indeed - sure hands, then block, dodge, with nerves of steel on a double.

Thanks for the advice.
I think that is how I will go JJB.. I forgot about that little fumbling detail. :)
