Pics, 2nd edition human and dwarf linemen.

Post by Phreedh »

Lo there guys... been a while since I posted, have had a hiatus from BB once again, but I'm always coming back. =) The other day I painted these two guys for my Old World pact miniature bank. They're the first two minis for that project and I was just trying out a red Old World scheme.

Image

What's that, you say? Me and my cousin modified the pact team rules from fumbbl, balanced them more inbetween so they work well against other pact teams. There's no chance in hell they would work versus "real" teams though. They're a hoot to play with! Really old school feeling which is enhanced by me using almost only 2nd edition minis for it. I've bought alot of minis to use exclusively for the pact teams and will paint up so I've got a wide selection of choices from each side (Old World and Chaos) and I'm also making one "red" and one "blue" variation on each side to make it possible for me and mates to use my minis for all our pact teams. Due to the massive amounts of minis needed (about 100), I'm keeping the paintjob as quick as I can manage... which means 2,5 - 3 hours per mini... =/

My pact/mixed team rosters posted here:

Cheers!

Hey, I like the colourscheme and the painting, looks neat. I'm even one of those few loons who like the 2nd ed Dwarf minis :D

But you need to finish the bases, don't you?

If I may I'd like to put the pics of the complete team to www.bloodbowl.org when it's finished (at least a good mixture of 20 minis as a team or so)

Good to see how a 2nd edition human can look like, I have a full team which are waiting for me to start painting, but lack of time.

I like the way you have painted them, the eyes are always my biggest problem, but you have done it well.

Sure thing Nark, they'd be put to shame next to your Chaos Dwarves though... ;) And yeah, the bases will get flock and static but I prefer doing those in batches so I'll wait until I've done a few more minis. This was just a quick-shot to show a mate what I've been up to. Figured I'd let you guys in on it too...

Musta: Well, eyes always cause me the most grief too... but somehow they still turn out decent in the end. The dwarf got a bit of a snobby expression going on there, totally accidental. I love how the eyes can give a mini character though and since I'm not good enough with eyes to decide on an expression and then paint it, it's always a lottery if they'll look angry, sad or just scared shitless with the old :o expression. =D

Just want to make cleaer that I can't paint and haven't painted any of the teams I own (but I did come up with all the conversions and got all the non-BB minis and parts together)

I mix the colours myself from the "base"-colour... so it's bleached bone with uhm... some dark brown paint I can't remember the name of right now. =)

ha ha!! I almost cryed with laughter when I saw this. I think we play the same lottery as most of my minis carry this :o expression

Hehe, the eyes are always a pain in the...whatever.

I myself don't have that problem right now, since I'm still stuck with my necro team. They are undead after all, so i thought of a possible nice touch for an undeads eyes. I just paint them light blue, highlighted with white and then i put a small amount of a colour coming from a pen labelled 'lumiatic' on the eyes. This colour glows in the dark or under a black light, it's quite a cool effect

I guess it's something like the night color of Revell, but never tried that:

Well what do you know... I painted up another dwarf lineman and also based and coated the minis. Currently doing another human lineman and then it's time for Colenzo the ogre.

Image

New dwarf is the one on the left. As the thread has been seriously focused on eyes I hate to post this pic really. The mini just didn't have any eye surface, but rather just two slits. I painted some eyes but it just didn't turn out good so I washed over them with a little chestnut wash to obscure them. He's squinting, we're not supposed to see them. OK? :)

I'm starting to wonder if I should dig out my old dwarf team and paint it up. But then again I'm already working on several projects

And I like the new dwarf too

Cool looking minis, well painted with a nice colour scheme.

How have you gone about basing them? Looks like you've flocked them, then added static grass, is this right? Whatever, it looks very effective.
