Slann

Post by Underdog »

I was thinking of starting up a slann team using Galaks roster (I got this from a vault thread but there are no plans as yet for this team to be official).

0-12 Lineman 6/3/3/8 Leap, Very Long Legs GEN 70k
0-4 Catcher 7/2/3/7 Leap, Very Long Legs, Catch, Diving Catch GEN/AG 80k
0-4 Blitzer 7/3/3/8 Leap, Very Long Legs, Diving Tackle, Jump Up GEN/AG 110k
0-1 Kroxigor 6/5/1/9 Loner, Unreliable, Prehensile Tail, Toughness ST 130k
Rerolls 50k

The best I could come up with was 3 Blitzers, 1 Catcher 7 Lineman and 2 RR's (Thinkfully its Vault rules so FF is free).

I really like the feel of this roster but they seem very expensive when I tried to put together a team. Those 70k linemen are a real drain.

After all this is a team with No Block, dodge or sure hands and fairly average stats. VVL and leap though characherful dont seem to me to be worth as much as say AG4 or sure hands & pass that other equaly priced players with the same stats come with. Maybe Im underestimaing the usefulness of all that leap or maybe this team is deliberatly underpowered (after all slann arent meant to be a major team). I was wondering if anyone had tested the above roster and could tell me how they played.

Im going to try and sculpt this team from scatch which will be my first major sculpting project. Ill post pictures if they turn out any good.

P.S. The vault version of VLL's is +1 intercept +1 to leaps which is esential for this team to work properly.

Having played Slann in the MBBL2 I have to say they are a challenge. Lack of block is a hinderence and leap is always risky with AG3 , still they where always a difficult team to play in the 1st and 2nd Edition. I think the rewording of VLL will improve them greatly perhaps even to much making them broken. Just imagine a blitzer with block ,leaping and intercepting at +1, if he got a ST or AG upgrade he would become a monster !

The pre-Vault version of the team was very balanced and even as migul said a bit challenging.

Some changes had to be made to the team because of the Vault change to VVL. I haven't had time to try the team since this change to see how they work.

Hi all,
we play a different variant of the slann here, but one which is quite close to Galaks.
We too find it challenging, but fun. That's with leaps on a 4+.

I don't know that 3+ leaps will make the team unbalanced. But it is probably something worth watching. If there is a problem, VVL could be removed, and replaced with a +1 to intercept special rule (or with nothing).
Cheers

Ok, VVL helps leaping a lot, and that's good for me, as frogs, Slann should be able to leap easily, but don't forget that with the new changes to VVL all those Slanns lose 1 Mv :o
So if it's unbalanced, it's maybe worse than before ...
