you don't have to have an AG5 gob to have TTM as a too reliable option
Exactly. An AG 3 player throwing a quick pass to another AG 3 player needs a 3+ to be accurate and a 3+ to catch.

Throwing a long pass with said AG 3 player needs a 5+ to be accurate and a 3+ to catch.

Throwing a goblin long range with the fumble on a natural 1 needs a 2+ to get him in the air and a 4+ to land.

I'd take the TTM anyday with that.

If you use the natural 1 houserule, I'd have something in there like you could take penalties on landing based on range and accuracy. So if you get thrown longrange, you take a -1 to land and if you're inaccurate you take another -1. That might make TTM a little easier to swallow.

that's exactly what i'm asking: why do you guys come up with things like "it does not make sense that i roll interceptions before passes !!!" or "why does a player throwing the ball VERY FAR has 50% to drop the ball at its feet ???" ?

No one is arguing that it isn't a popular house rule - along with interceptions after the pass roll its probably the most popular.

Having throwers drop the ball next to them half the time isn't very realistic so feels wrong.

Having a long beard be able to chuck the ball 14 squares downfield with only a 1/6 chance of failure feels wrong too. What's the point of taking HMP or a blunderbuss?

Both methods are flawed.

Given that they seem equally bad, I'll stick to the official rule which seems like the lesser of two evils.

I'd love a better mechanic for passing than we have at present - but one that is a quick and workable as the exisiting system.
