Need Help vs. Undead

Post by Whiskysour »

First of Hi to everybody.
And now to my little problem: My Girlfriend and I have a internal league with 5 teams (human, orks, chaos, dwarvs and undead, 10-15 games played now) and her Undead-team seems to be unbeatable no matter what I do and which team I play. If I do something unusual it works once but then she gets the clue and stops it.
The maior problems are her Mummys. One has got block and only needs one more point for her next skill and the other has got block and guard and only needs three more points for her next skill. The rest of the Team isnt much behind that, even most of her zombies got skills and due to regeneration I just cant get them back where they belong  .
Most of my Team is bound to the mummies and to stop them from forming a cage and her goules start a passing play. Or the other way around :( I know I should concentrat on crushing her zombies and skellies but if I do so her mummys have already whiped out 2-4 players before Ive brought her first skellie to the ko box
Is this "normal" and the reason why undead teams where split up or is it me doing something really wrong
P.S.: Sorry but in the last years my english got a bit rusty.

Are you actually trying to block the mummies? They move slowly, I would try to avoid them as much as possible (dodge away if you have to). Make her use her blitz action to block with a mummy.

If they form a cage, then aim your attack elsewhere.

Of course, it’s always best to not let the cage form to begin with, but that is usually easier said than done! :)

Basically you're asking how to deal with mummies right? Well, a few options really.
In any case get a dirty player, when, at any point, there is a mummy out on his own gang up on him, knock him down and foul him to hell! :) In the mean while throw some fodder at them (zombies) or even better yet never end a turn with a player next to a mummy.
tbh I don't think you should be focusing on injuring the skellies/zombies, they are pretty useless anyway. Just go after the gouls and wights, if an undead team loses these guys they are in big trouble.

Undead have a huge weakness its their lack of AG. Some will say Dwarves have low AG, and Khemri has the lowest AG. But looking at Undead its advantage is having 2 ST5 mummies, 4 MA7 people and 2 AG3 blitzers.

2 Mummies
2 Wights
4 Ghouls
8 Skeletons/Zombies if she leaves no slots open on the roster and all professional Undead teams should leave 2 spots open 1 for a Star player and 1 for a kill during the game.

The best way to beat undead is to be a real a$$. Targeting the Mummies and skeletons is what an Undead player wants you to do. This way they make a cage with the remaining players and beat you down and score a TD.

The ghouls are the players on the team that don't return once they go into the Dead Box. Ghouls are crunchy AV7 players.

You have humans, orcs, chaos, and dwarves to use to beat this team.

Tackle is an essential to take down the ghouls they come with dodge and in just an easy time they have block. That is just annoying after awhile. Many dwarves come with tackle and block.

If you can get your Human blitzers mighty blow and tackle then those ghouls will be having a little problems.

As for handling mummies the Orc team has them out gunned in ST. 4 Black Orcs in 2 skills have Block/Guard. Then you just rush the Mummies and take them out. With the other teams use your St access and starting block with dwarves and your St access with chaos to build up your guys to take them down. ON other teams you have run away forceing her to blitz with the mummies they are slow and once you get 6 squares away you can just laugh at watching them move up to you.

If you need anymore help just ask I hope this helped you out.

I would also stay one field away from the mummies so that they can't block and also can't move their full range.
Then I would concentrate on the potential ball carriers (Ghouls first and Whights).
And I would follow the Undead strategy: Foul the key players if the lay prone on the ground (and pray that your girlfriend will only hate you only during the game  )

Declare the Mummies are big guys and can't take general skills.

Declare the ghouls are female and faint at the sight of blood - i.e. they go straight the K.O. box every time a player on either side is stunned.

Hey, I like that. Do they run when they see rats, too? My Skaven would have a field day.

Seriously, against Undead, you've got to use movement to your advantage. You're faster then they are. Hit their ghouls with tackle. Foul them when they go down. Use kick to pin the ball deep, and crash players on their side to keep them from caging.

If all else fails and it's an important game, buy a wizard. Mummies hate that.

Without ghouls on the field, undead are a bit easier, but remember that whights have AG3 too... You really need to go after the ball, and have him make a LOT of dice rolls for TZ.

Depends which team you are using. Undead are very useful team at low TR, they seem to have just the right mix to play an even game. They bash hard but they run fast. As an undead player I know you will target my ghouls, so I hide them. If she doesnt, kill them. Put the wights in TZ so they have to dodge, and dont let your best players get tied up by the zombies. When defending always keep someone in the backfield so that you have a potential blitzer if they managed to break free.

I would, if her mummys and whights wouldn't kick my a!§. :D

Ok, next time I'll try to ignore her the mummys and as one of my Chaos Warriors recently got claws her ghouls hopefully face their end
