virgin bb tournament- which pro elves?

Post by holleeday »

im taking pro elves to the bb2005 but ive never realy played tourney rules before. my main dilemma revolves around the fragility of the elves (and the fact ive only painted 11 elves as yet)

so:-
2 blitzers
3 catchers
1 thrower
5 lineelves
2 rr
1 ff

or should i consider subbing in an apothecary and reducing my lineup accordingly either drop 1 blitzer for line elf or drop catcher and thrower for 2 more line elves?

any advice appreciated

Elf teams in general do suffer lots of casulties during tournament play. but remember you don't really care as long as you can out score your opponents.

Having not specificlly played Pro Elves, I can only guess, but the roster looks ok to me. With 3 catchers you are always a threat to score.

I would keep the blitzers, at AV8 they are more likely to survive for longer and you will be short of block without them.

very few elf teams will have an apoth, but Pro elves do have the option with thier cheep linemen.

i took
3 catchers
1 blitzer
1 passer
6 lineelfs

3 rerolls

and it worked fairly well, 3 RR's almost garantees a touchdown every drive. RR's are really clutch with a team that rolls so many dice and has no dodgers to start with.

but regardless of what you do, once you hit a bashy team with a good coach you will not win, because there is nothing you can do on defense, regardless of roster choices... so hope you play vs skaven and wood elves a lot.

I like your roster but if you want to tweak I'd definitely try to keep two blitzers. If they both get dodge as your first skill choices you'll have two Blodge sidesteppers, and I don't care how good a bashy coach they will cause him problems. After that I'd pickup kick on a lelf, stripball on a catcher for blitzing the ball free, and block or dodge on someone in your last game, alternatively surehands or accurate on your thrower. So if you want to squeeze in more palyers I'd consider sacrificing a catcher and the thrower. In terms of skill development you are probably only going to be able to skill up two of your catchers, so for an extra 40k over a lineelf your buying +2 MA. I'm not sure if that's worth it, but 40k on its own is not enough to buy you anything useful so you need to sacrifice the thrower too. Alternatively you can ditch a catcher for a second thrower

they just let you mark 2 players with them(blodge sidestepers) while they march down the feild, and if they go down they get fouled out of the game. If you can buy two skills you might want to make a "wardancer" catcher, leap stripball is scare factor enough to make the bashy coach run a different offense, which allows you to maybe play the game.
