How many Vamps on an experienced team?

Post by atropabelladonna »

I am thinking of running a Vampire team the next time our league resets. I am pretty much settled on what to do for a starting team (2 vamps, lots O thralls, and rerolls), but I was wondering what the final number of vampires should be on an experienced team (say TR > 200). I can't see a team with a full set of 6 vampires, maybe 4 or 5.

What have people found to be the most # of Vamps at high TV?

i think 6 is ok for a 16-man roster. field no more than 4 at a time though, that's assuming you have 5+ RR, that at least some of the vamps have Pro, and that you know how to counter OFAB by sometimes not moving the vamps when they don't REALLY need to =)

that being said, i don't know if i can qualify as a good vamp player. Grumbledook could help you a lot, if you can reach him ^^

I'd say you need about 1.5 rerolls per vamp without pro and 1 reroll for every vamp with pro. So the number of vamps you can field really depends on how many rerolls you have :)

6 vamps on a 16 man roster is madness. I wouldn't have any more than 4. A typical vamp match has most thralls in the KO box or worse, which if you had 6 vamps, would eventually force you to field them all. 6 vamps on the pitch at once is a recipe for disaster.

6 vamps on pitch at once ... I may lose sleep over that thought tonight.

Just like the others said, hire them all for longterm, but just dont field them all. This way, you make sure you keep some rerolls and thralls, but also keep some vamps as they could get KO'ed /injuried.

6 vamps on a full team s fine, especially if they have Pro. If you skill some towards defensive duty, and some to offensive, then you shouldn't need to field more than 4 a drive anyway.

Just be very wary if you start losing a lot of thralls though, as then you may be forced to field all 6. In that case, it might be worth taking the TO for a failed OFAB and getting the vamp back in the reserves.

you wouldn't have that many thralls off if you never sent any off due to OFAB, with all the RR/Pro/careful play.

It's also possible to field a vamp but never move him. (ok, -1 player but won't kill thralls).

yeah, or just keep him in the backfield, or something.
i mean, the very cool (and HARD) point about vamps is that they really play different than any other team...

Thanks for all the advice. I was also wondering as I have a vamp team box, (4 vamps and 8 thralls) but I have to decide how many more vamps and thralls to buy.

I think I'll buy one more blister (1 vamp and 2 thralls) and then a few thralls individually or convert a few from my existing models
