What are good Norse tactics for a long term league
By long term league I mean like a continuous league that you can take your team and take it from league to league. Carry over teams.
What would be good rosters or stratagies too play when starting this team with expectations of keeping it a long time?
I was thinking of going with
3 Blitzers
1 Thrower
2 Catchers
5 Linemen
3Rerolls
9 Fan Factor
This sets up a bashy game and a passy game. I figure my catchers would end up with a new skill by game 1 or the blitzers. Maybe even the thrower with completions.
So does anyone have a game plan? I have a long time to wait for a league so basically I have time.

For a really long term league, I reccomend not playing Norse at all... with AV 7, Average Move, Average Strenght, Average AG... they really have nothing going for them in the long run.
At low TR Norse kicks some serious butt, but after a while (170-180 TR) they just can't cut it.

either you're very optimistic, very lucky, or play against very bad coaches.Bizzy wrote:I figure my catchers would end up with a new skill by game 1 or the blitzers.

well, i'm sorry, i just told you, in my first post, that you should not really count on getting a skill on your catcher and on your thrower or blitzer. then you started answering like "is it unheard of to score two tds with a player ?"
well, i'm sorry, but i've played like 10 norse team online, and believe me or not, you are very likely to get at least one cas. now if you want to ignore help because it's not what you want to hear, go ahead.
edit to the post below: but that IS my point, ffs... hoping to get 2 skills with a starting Norse team is VERY optimistic.

2 Skills in your 1st game is pretty optimistic. I played a game yesterday with a rookie team where I won 5-0 and got 3 casualties too. I got 2 skills from that game - even though my opponent could do nothing right.Bizzy wrote:I only hope to get 2 skills in the game because of the possible ways to get them in early on. ON the positionals it helps more then it helps on a lineman but whoever it may be is good
It can be done, but realistically hope for one skill - and that will often be if your MVP lands on the right player.

... =/
i am pretty sure doubleskulls have already done it before, and i did as well.
however, it's been far more often that my norse team was crushed. now, forget about your dreams of 2 skills per game if you want to be realistic.
as for strategies for norse, well... don't fear to try 1D blocks when necessary, try not to follow up when you can get blocked by 2D, use frenzy to push opponent out of bonds, and don't rush forward, you are no ball player, even though your skills can help.

Longish term I wouldn't bother starting with the catchers. They ought to skill up fairly quickly anyway as they'll score a lot of your TDs.
In the longer term Norse will never achieve the heights that Av8 & 9 teams are capable of. They just can't keep players alive long enough and the average stat line makes life difficult too (the more developed a player is the more the initial stat line matters).
Why has this conversation turned to the likelihood of you getting 2 skills from the 1st game? Its a bit daft to plan that - and probably completely unnecessary too. Sure gamble on getting an apoth or not but gaining skills is just far to random over the very short term.
One thing I can guarantee the more you try to score with a particular player the less likely you are to succeed.

IDK i just said it as a possibility and it seemed thats the only portion of my opening post that was noticed.
Well Ian I agree with you they die over the long term. My question too you is this then.
What team that's got good bash potential and good run potential can I use that will survive in the long term?
