Oger Changes
After in WH-Fantasy the Ogre Kingdoms came out its time for the Gobbos to leave the Ogre-Team and make some space for the Gnoblars.
Maybe the Gnoblars should have the Halfling states and price, that would fitt a lot better then the Gobbos with the Ogre.

That'd be fine, if Blood Bowl was based in the Warhammer FB world... But it's not.... So goblins stay

Well I´d like to get more background Information then, which Fantasy-World is it?
Back 2 Topic!
@Ogre: Don´t you guys think that this change wouldnt really change the playing style of Ogre-Teams? And the Problem of the always the same 5 Ogre, 6 Gobbos starting Line Up would also be fitted.

IIRC, the most recent statements say that blood bowl is not bound to the WFB world.
And oddly, gken posted a very similar idea recently, Aksho. viewtopic.php?t=15441
I'm still not entirely sold on it, but do believe Ogres need to be changed. I know they preformed decently at TKC and the Spike, and according to all sources, Ogres should not be a decent team.

I'd like to run this discussion on a more game-balancing basis: even though I agree that WFB and BB should kept seperate in Fluff (no terminology like Wardancer, Witchelfs etc for a start) I agree that Gnoblars could balance Ogre rosters. I don't mind if you call them Goblars, Snotlings, Goblin weaklings or anything else, so the proposed Halfling stats or the statline 5137 (6??) posted somewehere else works for me. It would even make the Ogre team more normal as they could affod an 11 man squad and buy 1 TRR when starting that team.
You could call them Goblars and use Goblin minis, who cares - both are green, small and mean. As far as I have experienced is that Ogre teams just get too powerfull after 20 matches or so. Even with GEN skill access removed, they are just too good.
We have an Ogre team in our league and the coach plays it for the 3rd season now and he is top ranked among 18 coaches. All those MVPs bring even the lamest Ogre to his first 1-2 skills and as there are nearly no injury based turnover with the Ogres they develop quite nasty. You always have some doubles and stat increases, so on the middle run every Ogre team has several Block/Break Tackle Ogres and several other with AG3 or ST6. The Goblins as they are now are not weak enough to offset the structural advantage Ogre teams receive after 20+ matches. This coach doesn't even uses his apo for the Goblins, as he wants to protect his precious 3-4 skill Ogres.
The Ogre team as it stands now is feeble within 10 matches, underaverage btw 10-20 matches and then really beginns to devastate any other team through brute force. Main problem is the non-occuring turnover of the Ogres.

Hi all,
I think that Narc has a point.
Even if the BB world is not the warhammer world, I hope we can all agree that there are things unique to the warhammer world that also exist in Blood Bowl.
So, gnoblars could be in Blood Bowl.
They just shouldn't be added to BB because they are in the new ogre army for WFB.
But, as Narc pointed out, we could put them in there for balance reasons.
Cheers
Martin

if ogres were limited to 0-6 ogres they would be more "precious" too. losing an ogre when you have 8+ doesn't hit the team as hard.

*goes and looks*
But as much as folks here don't want to hear it. I think the Vault changes went a long way towards addressing the effectiveness of an Ogre team both tournament style and long term league.
I'm quite positive that those changes address the questions at hand on this team without any additional radical changes.

Well, I can live with the current Ogre roster (after all, why cry over a board game?) but my main issue has always been the fact that starting teams will almost always have the same line-up…and about half the starting players will not be Ogres. Not much variety for those who mostly play one-off games (like me).
I’m sure the team plays well, but just doesn’t hold any interest for me (fluff-wise). Just my own personal opinion!

The Vault team can be started with all Ogres if you so desire ... the Vault rules for the Ogres were written with folks like you compliants about having to have Goblins.OdoGoodgrubb wrote:Well, I can live with the current Ogre roster (after all, why cry over a board game?) but my main issue has always been the fact that starting teams will almost always have the same line-up…and about half the starting players will not be Ogres.
