How to use Thrud???

Post by Curufinwe »

Hi everyone, I will play against norse in a re-match and I thought of taking a strong guy in my lines, cause last time I was bashed up baddly!!!!

Oh, I played High elves in the last game.

At first I had the idea to take Prince Moranion, but his dauntless will be without any use against ST 3 vikings.

Next point: the game is a pre-season-game and at this therm you can say a just for fun game. And when I think of fun, Thrud should be just a good choice! :P

It is a fungame, there is no problem that the babarian will change the side, but it will be more funny, if he plays on the right side. Obvious mine

So I'm thinking of how to use him right, that he will be on my side most of time.

Is it clever to give the norse offence at first? I think so.

What do you think about Thrud and is there anyone who often uses him?

First I would choose the offense.

Thrud should block as many players as possible. So try to use his multiple block as much as you can.
And his high strengh combined with break tackle he will be a very good player to break the cage.Just dodge into the two or three taklezones and block the ball carrier and another player who's forming a cage.

And if you have him on your side avoid scoring early. So you reduce the chances that he will switch to the other site.

It might also be a good idea to foul with him a couple of times, if you managed to gain a good numerical advantage. When he's sent off, he can't play for the opposition any more.

If you score or find yourself in half-time, Thrud may well end up playing for your opponent. So overall, I'd just focus on getting hold of the ball for the first drive, then beat up as many of my opponents with Thrud to score at turn 8 of that first half, assuming Thrud doesn't get injured by then.
And by turn 8, get Thrud sent off as Tim recommended - foul with him repeatedly from Turn 6/7 onwards. He should be sent off and the opponent won't be able to use him...

Foul, mmmh :D :D :D

Sound very nasty, but hey I'll try it!

Thanks for the advice, I will give you a feedback when the match is done.

I would choose to defend first, taking the ball away from him and score in turn 8 will be a gamewinner. And thats what thrud does good with hes break tackle and high strenght. Then you can foul him out by turn 7 (good idea Tim) and score in turn 8, then score to 2-0 in turn 2 of sekond half = game wonn :)

This was my first thougt too. But in this option the opponet has the chance to get a TD right quick (2-4 Turn) and so on forcing Thrud for a throw.
Even Norse can build up a "passable passinggame" (What a wordcreation :) )

Shure the norsca-abes can score too, thats were hes superior defending skills has to come in, with a little help of thrud :)

If he scores though, then hes 2-1 stalling winn is out of the question....so its no disaster.

I have a game vs Ogres coming up soon with my Khemri. It is kind of a grudge match from last season so I was thinking of briging something "special" to the table. If I can not afford Ramtut in that game, I might go for the Thrud foul gambit above. Sounds great. :D

Ogre vs Khemri thats a match for the books

Many ST5 Plus guys with crunchy small lings...against AT5 guys and other krunchers.

Thrud bringing more ST 5 to the table. Man anyone vs you guys is a scary image.

He he. Remember Thrud, Ramtut, and Morg are all ST 6, which could be a big advantage in that game. If I can afford Ramtut, I will take him, if not I will shoot for thrud, and if not I will just go for it with the normal team.

Well the normal team is good in and of itself. And to be perfectly honest if you take Thrud and he goes to the other team you are just giving him a replacement Ogre, or goblin. Its not like taht extra ST 5 is gonna break your game. Just use what ever advantage you can get lol.

Chaos, pure craziness. That is all. Ramtut is a much better option granted. Probably more regular players is better too. Just might be fun. :D
