chaos dwarf question

Post by chummy_max »

Ok here is the thing. I've been asked to fill in for a coach who quit our leaugue before playing his first game. I still have to use his team.

3 hobgoblins
6 chaos dwarves blockers
2 bull centaurs

I have a chaos dwarf blocker who got a skill and I don't know what to get him. Anybody wants to help ?

hey chummy welcome to tbb,

i second guard, it was the first skill i gave to all of my blockers and it helps no end when caging the ball as your hobbo gets numerous assists. and it frustrates your oppenent so much it can make them change the way that they play.

Thanks a lot. I was hesistating between guard and tackle, but tackle is not effective against every team in the beginning as guard is.

yeah, it seems you have to make "too much" so that people don't feel attacked. i mean, come on, i'm not typing "hahaha you loser you don't have a clue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"... because that's not what i think.

Well anyways, I didn't take it personnally and I meant Break tackle.. but i'll keep that for my bull centaurs and go with guard for my CDB

"I didn't take it personnally"
great ;)
i strongly advise against Break Tackle... Guard, Mighty Blow, any stat increase but AG, Kick or Dirty Player if you don't roll anything but regular rolls, plus Pro maybe. Break Tackle allows your dwarf to dodge on a 3+, which is not that great, his low movement prevents him from doing much after that dodge, and generally you want your dwarves to hit, and hard, not flee. but maybe some others here like BT, i dunno...

For chaos dwarf blockers all you need is 2 skills: Guard and Mighty Blow. Then they are about as usefull as they get (unless you roll a +ST). If I get a +MA or +AG on the first or second skill roll I still take guard or mighty blow. Third skill: Pro to decrease the number of team rerolls you need. I don't like to have too many on cd teams since the price increase.

Oh and get a Troll. Since the whole purpose of the LOS players is to tie up opponents while your Bulls and hobbo's play ball, trolls are ideal. Granted, all they are good for is to stand in the way, but they are REALLY good at that :) (Mandatory smiley given discussion above)

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

I beg to differ, a roaring minotaur does not lose its tackle zone, and is much more needed at the LoS despite the lower AV.

Frenzy makesthe minotaur more risky and because he is forced to follow he is worse at holding a key position. The Troll doesn't have to do anything unless you want to, once he's in good position just hold him there and use the guard you should have given him. The troll is also harder to take out bc of regen and AV.

how is the mino "much more needed" ? just get a Troll and let him stand there. do NOT move him unless necessary. the less you move him, the less he'll fail RS rolls.
