*Disclaimer - all the entries are waaaaay better than I can do.

I agree that the overall quality of the entries in the UK (and the European ones I've seen) seem to be better than the overall quality of the US/Canadian entries.

However, there are some stunning entiers amonst some of the US/Can GD's.

Most of the stuff is nice enough, but hardly the breathtaking standard I expect of a GD winner.

yep, my first though, too. I just remember Wongs Spacemarine a few years ago...

... and i remember very well the great french entries at the last german GD. And the picts of the entries of the french GD !!!

And now, after seeing a few days ago the OK BB Ogre team painted by this italian artist here at TBB , ...

... well, "just "nice entries at Atlanta.

I have noticed a tendenncy for the North Americans to drybrush a lot (not that I don't, I can't paint and DB'ing is my best attempt at highlights) rather than 'proper' shading for the Golden Demons and championships. There was a grey knight army last year that won best painted in the 40k championship in the states and the whole lot was drybrushed. Still it's better than I can do

I know. It looks like all the minis painted by Thai sweat shops I've ever seen. A guy I know has a 1000+ piece historical army, Assyrians I think, painted over there. They all look like that. It's nice en masse, but not even close to GD quality. To his credit, though, it is better than 2nd and 3rd place. I guessing there were only 3 entries in the LoTR category and we saw all of them.
