What skin colour for Ghouls??
I'm making up my mind for a commision paintjob and can't decide what tone to use for the skin colour of the Ghouls.
The problem is I want to use the same skin tone for all undead players (=Wight, Mummies, Zombie, Ghoul) at least for the exposed/unarmoured parts like face, hands, belly, feet etc.
So what to take:
pale skin/whitish (suits the Skellies in the team)
greenish skin
blueish skin (I actually dislike blue skin tones for undead)
yellow/rotten skin
brown/rotten skin
pink flesh (I hate this as well, looks like Miss Piggy)
greyish/ash skin
So far my favourites are yellowish or pale whitisch skin?
What do you think? Remember all undead skin will have the same colour to have a coherent look as some models have very little cloth/armour on them.

anything that looks kinda sickly or odd will do. WIth Ghouls you have a pretty free remit.
You COULD go the Gollum route, sorta greyish.
I just did a couple of ghouls - one very dark brown, and one very pale (Bleached bone as a base up to skull white). I was thinking one who lurked in caves and one who lurked in a deep forest.
(worth remembering that it helps if its clear whch is which on pitch. The poses of the two figs are kinda similar...in my case I had two the same.)

I'm curious myself about my "paint performance"... I have a clear picture in my mind where I want to get, I have to see if I can go there all by myself. I studied the paintjobs I paid for and I will paint in the store in which both my "paint buddies" work, so all the pro support has been set up.
I did paint when I was at school, but stopped 13 years ago. One of the pieces I painted up at that time...

purple/mauve/pale pink.
Can be highlighted all the way to white (skeletons) or left in darker shades for the other players. I used Warhammer Ghouls for my team; their skin is very textured and offers ample opportunity for several shades of "cold" skin tone.

Don't forget about a very fundamental rule when it comes to painting well:
You are supposed to enjoy it.
It sounds like you used to, but stopped for some reason. I myself have taken breaks from the hobby for long periods, and it takes some time to get 'back in the game' so to say. However, it is amazing that your skill can actually improve without touching a brush, just by growing older.
I think your chosen paint scheme sounds good, the yellow eyes will really offset the pale gray. I actually think this sounds good enough to try myself. Please post pictures of your creation if you can, I would love to see them.
Good luck,
