Dump Off Vs Pass Block....
Hi, Here's my question...
Can a player use Pass Block on a Dump Off...?
if the answer is Yes... Can he use it, if he had already move during the turn ?

I think, by the letter of the rules, you can use PB on a Dump Off. There is nothing that I can see that prohibits it and Pass Block can be used "when the opposing coach announces one of his players is going to pass the ball".
However I'd suggest you house rule against it since it is, IMO, abusive.

Re: Dump Off Vs Pass Block....
Just so we're clear, you're asking if during Player A's turn they throw a hit on the ball carrier (Player B) and the ball carrier has Dump off (throwing a Quick pass before the block can be made) can one of Player A's team-mates with Pass Block move three squares in an attempt to block/intercept that pass after already having moved that turn...Popol wrote: Can a player use Pass Block on a Dump Off...?

After consulting my handy-dandy LRBv1.3 this is gray territory. Also note pg34 Dump off looks like it's missing some wording "Work out makes his block." ???
Neither Dump off nor Pass block say they HAVE to be during the opponent's turn but it's primarily then. Both skills allow actions during the opponent's turn. But I don't think Pass block was intended to be done during your own turn.
Love the idea... but I'd say No.
Now that I've said that... I'm waiting to get shot down, told we can use PB during our own turn, and picking that as my next skill.

The Dump off skill is a quick PASS prior to getting your head knocked off. I think you're getting it confused.voyagers_uk wrote:hand-off and pass are to distinct actions that use the accurate pass mechanic, the skill is not hand-off block.

Pass block agianst Dump Off
Are your sure? I can't find anything that prohibits Pass Block against Dump Off.GalakStarscraper wrote:No way in h*ll you can use Pass Block during your turn.
Just wanted to be crystal on this one.

It does lead to some fascinating opportunities for out-of-turn plays such as the moving team shadowing and diving tackling the Pass Blockers. Because of these complications I don't think it should be allowed but I can't find a rule against it, including old Q&As.

"Pass Block A player with this skill is allowed to move three squares when the opposing coach announces that one of his players is going to pass the ball. This move is made out of sequence, after the range has been measured, but before any interception attempts have been made. (LRB 1.3)
"Dump Off This skill allows the player to make a Quick Pass when an opposing player declares that he will throw a block at him, allowing the player to get rid of the ball before he is hit." (LBR 1.3)
Dump Off is a pass, and PB is there to counter that pass. Looks simple to me.[/b]

The way these two skills are written make it sound like you can Pass Block on your own turn if the they declare Dump Off.
While I like the idea of being able to move three additional squares after I've already moved my player... it just feels wrong and weakens Dump off considerably. I'd rather not undermind Dump off.
How about "the Dump off pass happens so quick that Pass Block players don't have time to react and don't get to move 3 additional squares"??

I'd say just put specifically that Pass Block is only usable during your opponent's turn. In fact, if I had to guess, I'd say that was just an oversite and was intended to be put in there before.gallowin wrote: How about "the Dump off pass happens so quick that Pass Block players don't have time to react and don't get to move 3 additional squares"??

I have to agree. the rules as written don't say you can or can't, but while it might be good to do, pass blocking in your own turn feels wrong.
Might be worth asking the BBRC to rule on this one in October too.
