Secret Weapons?

Post by Cpt. Sqweky »

Hey, we're starting a new lueage up here, (only three of us, but hey...) Anyway, I brought up the possibility of using secret weapons that aren't just on Star Players. I remember having read, a year ago or so, some rules about being able to buy up to one secret weapon for your team, but only linemen could use them. (With some exceptions like Gobbos and Chaos Dwarves.) But for the life of me, I can't find it again. Can anyone help me? I would appreciate it if at the very least someone could point me to a good set of Secret Weapons Rules. (I'm not too impressed with the article on bloodbowl.com, since it only allows for CD's. dwarves and goblins.)

Thanks in advance.

you could always see if you'd like to use Galak's MBBL2 rules:

We use these sw rules:

I think they were taken from Galak´s site but aren´t online anymore. Above is a screenshot I made.
We made some changes like Chaos Dwarfes (not the hobgoblins) being only allowed to use the blunderbuss and Khemri having access to a chainsaw.
We play that you have to roll a double with a lineman to be able to take a secret weapon (as a skill slot). You can then buy the weapon. Goblins (not in ogre teams) can choose to develop a secret weapon at any time and don´t need to roll a double.
On the penalty roll we ruled that if the opposing coach rolls a 12 the weapon is confiscated and taken from the player. He still keeps his secret weapon skill but you have to purchase a new weapon for the given cost.
In some cases (like Dwarves) this does not have to be the same weapon as the player owned before.

On the specialist-games website there's an article with SW rules in one of the Fanatic Mags that's downloadable.

I'll be using some/most/all of the MBBL2 Secret Weapons.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

All games need balance, or people will stop playing them...
