or you could have used dump off for fun, add block later and he turns into a fun annoying guy... a small cage, annoys the hell out of strip ballers, and u can pass the ball to the main/offensive thrower

give him the dump off skill, if he gets blocked, have your other thrower standing 1-2 squares next to him.

After the number of times I failed the pick-up in the open with my thrower, I'd advocate surehands as well.
Plus who's to say you'll only ever need a 2+ to get the ball. Elven throwers (well, elves in general) are ideal for getting the ball while next to the opposition and dodging out, so giving them the security of a re-roll sounds like a good plan to me.
