Chaos Dwarves?

Post by Darkweaver »

Hi all! I'm back! Remember me? ^^

The league ended, I won the 2nd category league but I admit that going up with TR, my Norse team (currently TR 184) started to slow down a bit.

On May, 2 we're going for a dinner and the All Star Game with the old teams and after that starting the new league.

I was toying with the idea to play Chaos, but a guy in the league already decided for the team, and I don't like being "the second" to play a team.

I suppose my second choice is not too nice in a 10-15 games league (Ogres...I fear TOO MUCH that Bone Head thing) and so I came up with Chaos Dwarves. I seen many starting rosters... I plan to go for two BC, 4-5 CD, at least two ReRolls and maybe an Apo and so on...

But the most important thing.. Is there some sort of "guidebook" to CDs around? I always played with Norse... I risk to go around trying to Frenzy out people from the pitch with by rookie Bull Centaurs...

So men... any good advice from experienced CD players is more that welcome... considering also that I'd also play Ogres..if you convince me they are not a "just for fun" team... I'd like to win something this time... :P

I tried the team against Chaos, and to be honest I didn't like it too much, so I'm back at the beginning. I dunno what to play.

At the moment I'm toying with the idea to play humans, which I see as some sort of improvement of the Norse the way I used to play them (passing play).

Anyway I'm in doubt.. I did a 12 games league with what I consider an "halfway" team (Norse) and I would like to try a "upper class" team. The problem is that I still have to understand if I consider 'oomies a "team that can win a league" or a "team that can do nicely in a league"...

I've only been playing since last September or so, and C-Dwarves were my first team. I HATED them for the first four or five games, probably because I was learning the rules, too. But by the end of the season I loved 'em, even bought my own set to paint.

There are a ton of teams I'd like to try, but the CDs are high on my list to play again once this TT league runs its course. Give them a chance. Once you get a couple of ballhandling skills on some hobbos and block on your BCs things will look up.

Thanks for the posts.

I'm new to the bulletin board and am already enjoying it.

I'm starting a CD team in a league.

Right now my biggest decision is whether to get Hthark or not.

hi Frisbee dog,

welcome to tbb, i would say dont worry about hiring h'thark early on in your teams life, as he will suck up your star player points leaving your team under-developed.

and as was said by Matt you need to get some ball handling skills on your team asap, i would consider hiring him for important one off games but definately not all the time. i hope you enjoy the team, they become really nice once your gobbo's and bull's get a couple of skills.

From his other post I think he's allowed permanent stars and 3rd ed cards are still used. In that case Hthark is very handy - but I wouldn't start with him either. If you are allowed the rookie bulls take them instead then buy Hthark once you've got enough money.

 , sorry i didnt know that. in that case i would have to agree with Ian get him a bit later on once the bulls have skilled up as he is one of the best star players out there, a real menace.

I have played a CD team in my league for one season and I learned a lot by "trial and error". Some skill suggestions:

BC: Break Tackle first! Else you won't profit from their movement. Then Block and Sure Hands. On doubles Dodge or Stand Firm, later Catch.

Hobos: 1 with Kick, 1-2 with Sure Hands, 1-2 with Dirty Player. The rest gets Block. On doubles you can either take Dodge and turn them into a runner (Dodge, Block, Sure Hands) or pick accurate and develop them into a Thrower (accurate, sure Hands)

Troll: Guard, Bock or Pro on doubles

CD: well easy and boring - Guard, MB. On doubles Stand Firm, Dauntless or Sure Feet :)
