Painting jewels!

Point #1 - Makes much more sense now, as far as the look you were going for. Nice theme, and a damned fine-looking team!

Point #2 - Touche. Although... I suppose that I could point out A) I've always been more of an ass man, myself; and B) despite Point A, my last girlfriend still ended up being someone who sported 38DDs, so I guess the 25mm metal ones just make less of an impression on me after that!

in fact, these days, very few painters paint numbers at all any more...

It's very kind of you, Norse, to be so accomodating!

Once I'm able to start painting again, I certainly intend to continue painting numbers on the figures wherever possible. The bases will be numbered, too -- either painted or with the plasticard numbers -- but that will simply be for ease of sight on the field, and in addition to -- rather than instead of -- numbering the players themselves.
