Hi,
I have been out of Blood Bowl for a while and just downloaded LRB 4.0 and noticed that it's 8 pages longer than LRB 2.0 (I missed LRB 3.0). This observation prompted my new concept, trimming the rules.
My two questions for discussion are:
1. How long of a rule book is too long?
2. If you had to remove some part of the LRB what would you remove?
My answers:
1. It's already too long.
2. I think that the game should be played by the players on the pitch and so I would start trimming the rules by removing wizards.

Most of the extra pages are for the new teams and the FAQ is now incorporated into the main rules too.
As for slimming the rules down that's one of the functions of the Vault which is working on the next edition of the Blood Bowl rules. The rules are available here - http://www.specialist-games.com/bloodbo ... _LRB18.pdf
Both are 64 pages long though. Probably because the vault one has 8 pages of card descriptions.

1. It's fine, in fact it could easly be longer with optional rules, etc. Compared to other games (Necromunda, Mordheim) it's pretty small.
2. I'd drop the league rules that JJ wrote - "You MUST do it this way, you MUST do it that way". But then I'd replace it with some examples on how to run leagues using different formats, so I guess that'll make it longer.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
