Hey all. I've been playing BB for about 4 years off and on. We're looking to start a new league and I'm looking to play a new team in league. I usually play Skaven or Chaos and I really want to play something different. I want to play dwarf but I was hoping to get some advice on what I should run as my starting team.
Right now I'm looking at one of these 3.
2 Slayer
2 Blitzer
2 Runner
5 Long Beard
2 TRR
3 FF
1 Runner
1 Slayer
2 Blitzer
7 Long Beard
3 TRR
6 FF
2 Slayer
2 Runner
7 Long Beard
3 TRR
5 FF
I'm not really sure where I want to be with my starting team. I think any of the 3 would be good. Looking for some more expirenced players to help me out with this one. Thanks in advance.

I almost always start my dwarf teams out like this:Irishragan wrote:Hey all. I've been playing BB for about 4 years off and on. (Your 1st list is off by 40k..you probably meant to be 3RR and 3FF instead of 2 and 3)
Here is my reasoning:
1) With a maximum of 4 players with agility 3, you just about have to start with 2 blitzers and 2 runners. Some coaches don't like having 2 runners due to the lower AV and no block, but I find that things generally work better for me if I have them from the start.
2) Having a Slayer is just about a requirement. With the slow move of 5, having 2 allows you to more easily cover the field with dauntless/frenzy
3) High AV means that you don't need an apothecary right away..you should survive your 1st game well enough (of course, the randomness of die rolls means that this isn't always the case..but you are better off than the low AV teams by far)
4) I don't like having less than a 7FF on any team. More money, Better Kick off Table results, and such. If you are in a short league (or a tournament) then having 3FF to start isn't that bad.
5) RR's are only 80k after the season starts. Dwarves have a low player turnover, so you generallly don't have to replace alot of players, leaving more money to spend on RR's and an apothecary. Also note that 80k is just barely more than many teams spend on RR's at team creation.

To put it another way: if Nuffle is that cruel to you in your first match, the APO won't help you either.GorTex wrote:3) High AV means that you don't need an apothecary right away..you should survive your 1st game well enough (of course, the randomness of die rolls means that this isn't always the case..but you are better off than the low AV teams by far)
Two important points indeed. 1st two things to buy are an APO and a RR. That's 130k, 7 FF should get you that in in 3-4 matches, after which you can start hiring Death Rollers and Zara.4) I don't like having less than a 7FF on any team. Starting out with less positionals is a good way to speed up development of your long beards. But with all of them having block, they should get their fair share of casualties. In that case I would ditch both Troll Slayers and get 3 TRR. You need two runners. However, saving to buy 2 Troll Slayers and an APO takes a lot longer than getting an extra RR and an APO.

If you do get pummelled in early matches or unlucky injury roles, then the dwarfs can be quite forgiving anyway, as a run of injuries won't last long. I've only ever started 1 dwarf team, and i lost 3 players in my first two matches (although i suffered no other injuries apart from stuns). A couple of matches later and i was back to 11 players, but with a few more skills than other teams of the same rating. It reminded me to look after the runners though. i skilled them early to get block and then tried to spread spps around. This generally meant scoring more with blitzers, as it can be a struggle to get the ball safely to an AG2 player.
