OK, I thought maybe you didnt want/needed a Big Guy in a CD-roster...

Ill take the mino and see what will happen, but thanks for the advise anyway.

well, actually tat's what i think. BG are not really needed in this team. but if i HAD to chose, i'd get a troll. an av8 mino with frenzy and no block will get crushed to oblivion faster than it takes to spell "bullfighting".

Next buys are the Apoth, the second Runner, and a 3rd re-roll.

Just another option :)
I agree to MechD at most, but I would take a second Runner instead of one Blitzer!
Because in a drawen team you need someone to handle the ball. Sure hands, AG3 and MV 6 I prefer a Blitzer. You still have 9 guys for bashing.

is there a thing vs chaos warriors? or do people just love beastmen?

the most any one seems to be showing in a starting roster is 1 CW?

surely the 100k isnt to prohibitive... and their above average ST and solid armour coupled with their not too restrictive AG and MA make for a class player capable of getting skills in quickly in those first few games

or am i being stupid :)

well, Chaos have no skill to start with, so they need RRs, and the only way to get a decent amount of RRs is to get either 1 (3RR) or 3 (2 RR) CWs. if you want a mino, that's one less CW.

my advice is 3 CW, 8 Beasties, 2 RR and max FF, and play well until you can get more RR ;)

first, i agree with gus, second that chart is mostly for open leagues, so since chaos warriors easily skill up(relativly) the focus is on getting a bunch of rerolls, 3, and skilling up beasts and then chaos warriors as you get them. so you really answered your own question with that sentence i quoted :D

yeah last league i started in i went for 3CW and 8 beasties... but was seriously disadvantaged as our league comish assured me that beastmen were 70k and i didnt bother to think about it... several games later (a tie with a dwarf team being the best result) and seeing other teams pull ahead of me i finally realised the error... and recieved 80k recompense... didnt help much... also checking maths... found that the comish had accidentally miscalculated his team from 1.1m gp down to 1m to start and had a couple of BOBs blitzers and varag to start i think and he was running away with the league...

1 vote of no confidence later... 1 installing of a new comission later and the league fizzled out...

the boy wasnt a cheat... just a dullard...

nah, he was just a fool i think...

but he does seem to always win at board games... such as risk...

i heard that he owns monopoly too but i haven't played him...

he fmaily like to wind him up if we're playing when im at his by always warning me that he cheats and stuff and he gets all immature... but he's good natured in a way

and he loves to make lists... he plans out who to buy and how much... and their positons... hence why he also loves championship manager and internation cricket captain

So, as RR now cost 70k, would you start with only 2 RR or drop a BC for a Hobg

no, never drop the 2 bc. Either drop a cd or a reroll.

--------------------

my new orc team will be a smash.

3 reroll
7 ff
2 bob
2 blitzers
2 linemen
1 thrower
1 troll
4 goblins

thou, i found out that 3 gobbos is enough, especially since i only got 40' after the game ;)

I am currently doing pretty well with the following CD team:-

2 Bull Centaurs = 260k
1 troll = 100k
4 Hobgoblins = 160k
4 Chaos dwarfs = 280k
2 Rerolls = 140k
Fan Factor 6 = 60k

My first purchace was the Apo then subs. Now I'm going for RR's to drop my rating.

The best thing about orcs is that there are so many ways to start a team. No goblins or 4? BOBs or blitzers. It makes new teams more fun than for elves and the like.

Gus wrote:well, supposing you manage your first game, you get an apoth after game 1, and from then on you can always buy cheap linos. with a FF of 7, you should have no trouble getting some money.
yeah,..either that, or you dont earn enough money to get an apo, and start your next game with 8 players.

Thats what i had
:-)

But after 4 games we are getting somewhere.

I think giving the Vampires Block instead of Pro in this setup is better btw.
you can (and probably should) give them Pro after that, but you need the block to give yourself some certainty when blocking/blitzing AND more importantly when you have the ball and are being blocked,...
ST4pro will go down often, ST4block a lot less so,

Hi all, I'm a newbie here. I scanned thru the thread for HE starting and was surprised that nobody uses my starting line-up:

High Elf
1 Dragon Warrior
1 Phoenix Warrior
1 Lion Warrior
8 Linemen
2 RE-ROLLS
7 Fan Factor

Maybe I missed it? Or is there a proven track record against this? I ran a coupla small leagues, using LRB3.0 and LRB4.0 respectively, some houserules, AND with the old Special Play cards (!). For those, I used:

High Elf (10)
1 Dragon Warrior
1 Phoenix Warrior
1 Lion Warrior
7 Linemen
2 RE-ROLLS
9 Fan Factor
1 Apothecary

Yep, 10 elf start-up being one of the houserules, although not recommended.

Now starting a new league with LRB4.0 & Special Play cards. Figured I'll pick an Apoth after 1st or (gulp!) 2nd game.
