Orc purchase

Post by orgak »

I have an orc team with two games under its belt and 110k available to spend prior to a game against Ogres next on the league schedule. The Ogres have 5 Ogres, 6 gobbos, 1 RR , and 11 FF - one gobbo is skilled with block and sidestep.

The rest of the league includes Elves (played), Vamps (played), Norse, Amazons, Nurgles, and Dwarves.

My current team makeup is 3 bobs, 4 blitzers, 1 thrower, 3 lineorcs, 2 RR and 6 FF. Only my passer is skilled (dump off).

With the 110 I can purchase another BoB, a Troll, or sock it away to get that 3rd RR after ths game.

Any thoughts or recommendations? I am leaning toward saving the money for the RR.

I'd go for the reroll, unless you are only playing the 3 games more, then get more meat (BoB).

I'd get the BoB because after you play the ogres, there's a good chance you'll need more bodies. Plus, the BoB and an assist will get you a 1 die block on an ogre.

You didn't mention whether you had an apoth yet or not, if you don't, I'd get that first.

Ogres have mighty blow. I'd buy the apoth for 50k, and buy a line orc for 50k to have a body to throw at the Ogres.

But that is just me. Others might prefer to save the 60k and get the BOB or re-roll later.

If you already have the apoth I'd spend 80 on the BOB, and save the 30 k.

Really... people...

Ogres are *easy* for orcs. No need for all that stress about losing your team, needing more bodies, getting 1 ST5 guy to counter his 5...

Liners and BoB's do a great job of nullifying ogres, your blitzers can make short work of goblins (the only things that can keep up with you), and after that just score away.

You play Orcs, not halflings! Ogres are not a thing to worry about. (actually.. halflings have even less to fear, but that is a story for another day)

After weighing everyone's suggestions, I will keep my money for the RR based on Gorbad's suggestion and last statement.

Neglected to post that I do have an apoth for the squad already.

Here's my thinking:

1) He has to field 6 gobbos so if anyone goes short-handed it should be him

2) If I lose a player I will still have the the 110k to replace him for the next game.

3) A troll may actaully offset one advantage I have working for me in that the troll might end turns prematurely with no RR use. If things go well, he'll be the one ending turns early with his one RR and boneheads.

My plan is to try and use my 3 lineorcs on the line on defense and try to keep 3 of the 5 ogres occupied. My Bob's and blitzers can work together to try and get 3 die blocks in against the gobbos to put them down.

I'll post results after the game.

Thanks to everyone who provided input.

Played the other night making no additional purchase. Came away with a 2-2 tie with no casualties against. Could have been a 2-1 win for me but my opponent came up with a miraculous goblin fling, 2 GFI's 2 Dodges and a ball pickup in the space adjacent to my thrower -in the corner space next to the end zone. Man I wish those orc throwers had a 6 speed.

Anyway - I earned 60k so I have enough for my 3rd RR and my next game is against Amazons so I plan to sit on the remaining 50k and pick up a BoB after that game.

i dont ever take a thrower for exactly that reason, :) i like MA6 on my carrier, i just get the ball to a blitzer, plus i can spread my team out nicer when i don't try and focus on getting the ball to one specialist player.

3rd reroll is important, so is 4th BOB< get that black orc asap.
