You need the width of the ruler too.
It measures possible interceptions.
And the last 0.5 cm is of no use.

Is the width of the clear area or the width of the whole ruler what is used for interceptions? Is the 5cm the width of the clear area or the width of the whole ruler?

Only the width of the clear area is used!

No the whole width is used:
LRB page 22:

To be able to make an interception, the player must be between the player who threw the ball and the player who is meant to receive it, and the plastic ruler must pass over at least part of the square the intercepting player is standing in.

It is a part of the ruler, not a part of the clear area that must be over the player.

Hmmm, tru enough. Why bother with making a clear part and red side lines on the ruler? Very confusing this is, the Forcee.

Okay, so the whole ruler is used and that is the 5cm part, so that is the only measurement I need on the width, correct?
