Leap for 4 AG Skink?

Post by Qlars »

I just got my third skill for a skink that has 4AG and sidestep. Do you think Leap is worth considering? I have a couple of skinks with catch already, I was thinking of going sprint if not Leap. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Qlar

Why would you want to jump on 3+ if you could just go there on 2+ with dodge-reroll???
I would give him sure feet and maybe sprint next.

I agree ... 3+ with no reroll is way worse than two 2+ dodges with a reroll:

Here are the stats:

With team reroll available
Chance of making the 3+ leap = 89%
Chance of making the two 2+ dodges = 95%

Without team reroll available
Chance of making the 3+ leap = 67%
Chance of making the two 2+ dodges = 93%
Chance of making the two 2+ dodges if an opposing player has Tackle = 69%

So even in the worst case scenario (when you factor in Tackle) you would be better off dodging.

Sure Feet is IMO by far the better choice. Even with MV8 to start, the extra reach is very useful. Catch as a second choice - there is no great Agility skill to choose really, but saving rerolls is always good. :)

But you're missing three situations:
a) the path is completely blocked
b) several dodges on the same turn, meaning the dodge reroll will probably have to be used there
c) opponent with tackle

I'd say Sure Feet and Leap are both good choices for an AG4 skink.

leap avoids diving tackle and prehensile tail though

rue, leap can have it's uses as well. Still, the situation where leap actually makes a diference is not that likely to occur. Other skills will be more likely to make a difference.

I think Diving Tackle, Sure feet or Sprint would make more sense.

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

Leap makes a handy "monkey wrench" that adapts to almost any bad situation. FWIW, I find it VERY difficult to play effectively against a team with AG4 leapers, as they seem to deke out of any trap I set for them quite easily.

An AG4 skink should be developed as offensively as it gets. Sure Feet or Leap - both come very handy when U need to come, get the ball get away and pass the ball - all in one turn. The choice is just on your play style.
- Sure feet makes him safe runner, too.
- Leap is the choice for incredible actions around blocks of players.
- I wouldn't give him Sprint - it's too dangerous for him without Sure feet.
- Jump Up could be also a nice choice - depends on the ather teams in the league - whether they hunt your skinks or not

leap no question...ignore these stat-frenzied guys. there are PLENTY of situations where leap is superior to the multiple dodges that would be the alternate route.
