Halfling league team
Any last minute advice? Read the tatica here, so thats a start. My goal is .500 wins, and perhaps upset some better teams.

And no, league organizer already ruled out freebooting Deeproot. 2 big guys meant 2 big guys, starplayer or no star player.
ALSO a question: when you use the master chef and buy more of them, when you roll, you GAIN that many rerolls, and he loses that many. If he doesnt have that many to lose(say he only has 2 when you bought 4), you gain 4 if you roll no 1's, even though he's only lost 2. Correct?

Re: Halfling league team
Anyway you can get your league commish to talk to us. Deeproot is NOT a Big Guy ... he is a Star Player. Star Players do not have positions. That would be like not allowing a human team to freeboot Griff just because they had 4 blitzers.carmachu wrote:And no, league organizer already ruled out freebooting Deeproot. 2 big guys meant 2 big guys, starplayer or no star player.
Now if he is not allowing stars to be freebooted at all that is different and fine ... but if he is doing this just to screw you over ... that seem pretty sad. Does this mean that a Human team with an Ogre cannot freeboot Morg. That could all get messy pretty quick as the Stars don't have positions assigned to them and he is trying to limit stars based on positions.
Just sounds like he has it in for a team that is going to have problems winning in the first place. Doesn't make sense.

*shrug* he's a good guy, so its not just to screw me. He's encourging me to play halflings.(not that I need that much encouraging, my other choice is CD's). He's ruled against it. Whether its that reason or another, it really doesnt matter. He's ruled no and thats that.
I'm not that worried about it.
More worried about the orc and norse teams. The norse especially- he builds a cage that I cant seem to break. The other teams in practice type games(skaven, lizardmen, humans) they've ended up with more in the dead and injured box then the halflings...

THen I suggest you try harder at it. I've had alot of one off games where I never use him and both survive and tie or win the game. Lost a few too, but still live through it to compete.falconeyed wrote:I'm not even sure that Flings work as a viable team if Deeproot is not an option. I dont think he's necessary, but it be nice to have. But since its ruled no, and whether its because we're not freebooting star players or we're not having more than 2 big guys on the table for us small fries is irrelevant: Comissioner ruled, and thats that.
I've been having problems with Nosrse and orc teams myself, especially if they cage up. Havent been able to break the cage.
Thanks Ravage for answering my question.

Unfortunately, one offs are completely irrelevant. You're talking about league matches. He's not necessary for all matches, but I'd argue he's necessary for that first match as he provides really the only reliable muscle on the pitch.carmachu wrote:THen I suggest you try harder at it. The snotty "I suggest you try harder at it" comment doesn't add anything to the discussion. If you're going to get snotty when people give serious opinions that you've solicited for, then perhaps a message board isn't for you.

Perhaps making commments such as "the team wont work without X" isnt constructive either, and I'd suggest if thats all you bring to the table, dont bother coming.falconeyed wrote:

The only good way Fling have to beat a cage is to use their Dodge and Stunty to stall the cage out. Use doubles of Flings to make it is so that if one is blitzed another is still blocking that avenue.
Your goal is quite simply to stall the cage until your Treeman and block their way or move their way over to the cage and break in for you.
Break Tackle is hands down one of my favorite Treeman normal skills for LRB 4.0.

Re: Halfling league team
Knowing that Deeproot is out ... yes this is probably the best league starting roster you could have. Remember Apothecaries are for Treeman, 3 skill Halflings, or +1 ST or +1 AG Halflings ... everyone else dies when he dies.carmachu wrote: treeman

Thanks, thats what I was afraid of. I've gotten good at stalling folks, but breaking them is another story.
I've considered stalling, then using the remaining to dog pile on someone the treeman knocks down and fouling, trying to cause casualties to shake him up. we'll see.
thanks

Yeah, defanitely. Guarenteed if I use it early on a non-treeman, the treeman's gonna die. THis is blood bowl after all......GalakStarscraper wrote:Knowing that Deeproot is out ... yes this is probably the best league starting roster you could have.
