With a Bashy team, should i kick or recieve?
Hello, I play dwarves, and seem to always win the coin toss. I always seem to choose to kick, so i get the ball during the second half. However, i was wondering for a bashy team against what teams is it better to recieve first? I am having a serious problem getting casualties and scoring, so advice would be nice.

I tend to think that those who suggest you should kick with a Bashy team to get the ball in the second half are outsmarting themselves. I would receive every single time. Receiving gives you the initiative in beating up on that team. If you can have a nice leisurely, 8-turn, first half touchdown, then your opponent is looking at coming back in the second half, perhaps down players. If he scores fast, you still have a chance to win, and he may not be good at scoring slow against the power of the dwarves.

I agree.... recieve the ball vs slow teams with the dwarves.. it's all about opportunity. even 1 cas makes the difference and hopefully coupled with a few ko's that don't come back you can dominiate him/her in the second half. That's the plan anyways....

Against a team with an OTS, you should probably kick.
Assuming you are succesful at driving your slow cage, he will then get his 1 turn opportunity in turn 16, instead of turn 8.
This will give you more time to reduce his team in numbers, so you can get at his OTS before his chance comes.

I completely and utterly disagree. When playing dwarves (or any other bashy team) vs elves or skaven you know they're going to score whether they have 11 or 6 guys on the pitch. Let them score in 2 turns. Take 7 yourself. In the first half they get 2 chances to get back ko's: on their turn 2 (big deal, you've only had 1 turn so that box won't be full) and half time (unavoidable).
Second half you receive. Take 8 turns to score. They get to make ko rolls after their turn 7, big deal, the game is already won.
receive:
Make an 8 turn scoring drive. Again there are 2 chances to get ko's back. After their turn 7 and at half time. Likely after 8 turns of bashing their ko box is full and they now get 2 chances to get their ko's back. Then they receive, even at a man disadvantage they'll likely score in 2 turns, again they get to roll for ko's (which they may have sustained in half 1).
The difference is that when receiving the opponent gets at least 3 significant chances to get ko's back, while if you kick they get only 1, as the other 2 are early in the first half and deep in the second where it's unlikely to matter much.
PLUS if you kick you have a chance to remove one of those annoying catchers/gutter runners that can swarm your backfield before you can form a cage: THE BIGGEST threath to bashy teams.
I have won many games by electing to kick instead of receiving.

Receive every time get the initaiative and the first blocks, its no good having the ball at the start of the second half if your 1-0 down , rather be in the other position. If you won the toss and kicked against me its unlikely you'd see the ball until turn 8 of the first half

When I play dwarves (like in the TBB-league at FUMBBL!) I prefer to recieve. At low TR my opponents often get in a good position to take 4-5 turns to score if they have all their players in.
Also, low TR elfs or even skaven may very well fail if they try a 2 turn TD. I think I prefer having those delicate brawls in the 2nd half, and concentrate on bashing in the first half (even if they get an extra KO-roll).
I'm not a 2-1 purist though, unless it's a tourney or I really want to win. It's often possible to get 3-1 and a more exciting match if you take more risks.

bashy, ill receive. first blocks dont equal more chances to KO, they equal more chances to cas. there are no rolls out of the dead & injured box
