Starting Out ---- High Elves or Dark Elves?

I understand that this is a question w/ no concrete answer, but...

... who is better, High Elves or Dark Elves?

A better question would be, who do you like better and why?

What do you guys recommend?

do you like a passing game more, or a hitting game?

HE's have catchers, DE's have witches. That's the only difference. Choose which one of those positionals you'd rather have on your team, and there's the answer of which one you should play.

Personally I prefer to play more "football" in my BB game, so HE are where it's at for me.

Yeah, the HE figures are pretty pansy compared to the sleek, dangerous looking DE's...

I actually do like a hitting game more, but I currently own an Orc team, a Dwarf team, and a Human team --- not that Humies are big hitters, but I thought I'd branch out and try something different. I'm going to get one team each of DE's and HE's.

I don't have experience with playing DE, but learnt the game by playing orcs in my first league last year, and have been playing HE in 3 leagues that I run this year. And I must say I do enjoy the HE passing game, especially with a trained up Phoenix Warrior [soon to be 'generic-ised', more on this later]. Long Bomb passing at 4+ or even 3+ with a re-roll! Now that's sweet.

On a related note, just wondering how the HE players feel about the players being given generic names. Dragon Warriors will be called Blitzers, Lion W -> catchers, Phoenix W -> throwers. I posted my 2 cents worth over at Specialist Games forum, under:

DE's all the way, because I dislike the HE figs, I find it harder to think of decent HE conversions (compared to DE conversions I can think of [nevermind the do!]), and because I've always disliked the stupid WFB names (though they're going!

).

For me HE are a much better side that always play well. The figures suck but the overall performance is well worth it... go get some 2nd ed old elf figs that should sort you out:)

DE are much better if you are a big hitting coach that fancies havong ag4. Very little difference in stats but often the aproach is often more varied than most people would imagine.
