What house rules do you use?

Got some ideas for rules? Maybe a skill change or something completely different!!! Tell us here.

glad this thread is getting more posts to it again :)

D, I have the same 8-person-league issue you have where occasionally we have players not show up for games (we run biweekly sessions, 2 games per session on a fixed schedule) so occasionally we have players show up w/o an opponent to play as well. I was thinking of running some BB7 myself for those players as a type of "side league" where people could create BB7 rosters and play either when two people both have opponents not show, or during our dinner break if they choose, or whatever. Something different for the guys in my group who have never played any BB variants.

We try and enforce the "once you're done, you're done" rule as well with regards to moving players, but we are fairly lenient overall. If you say you're done moving someone, you can't suddenly say "wait, i wanted to move someone else first", even if you havent done anything else. But at the same time, we usually allow situations like

"I'm going to throw a 2d block at this guy"

"You realize I have 2 assists there and that's 2d MY choice, not yours, right?"

"Oh, crap. OK, I'm going to move these guys first to cancel the assists, one has guard, NOW it's 2d my choice"

"Fair enough"

FUMBBL lets you see what the dice rolls will be before you roll them, and if the coach doesnt see something properly we'll let him correct for the mistake - again, provided no dice have been rolled yet.

DesTroy's snake-eyes armor rule made me laugh :D I'd suggest it to my league just for fun, but I dont think people would go for it ;) I also like your scatter rules based on the length of the attempted pass. Makes a lot of sense, really.

Why thank you, kind sir... :D I actually wanted to go back to the LRB pass scatter rules for this season but my players outvoted me. Oh well, it does make more sense, as you say, Ravage.

Very interesting to see what rules are REALLY being used out there!

I do like the snake eyes, AV roll rule. Not sure I could get my group to go with it though. Also the scatter rule, it DOES make sense.

The house rules we use are really just to simplify stuff:
No Biggun's, No wizards, No star-players etc, No Halflings (Commish hates little people I think), No secret weapons.
It seems to me that we could add those things and the game wouldn't unbalance, but certain people in the league might get a bit "overwhelmed" as they seem sometimes to have a hard enough time with their teams as it is.

Yeah, I can see why your commish would want to do that, but the only thing we don't allow from that list is the secret weapons (of course there are no Gobbo teams in my league). Star Players are only available as Freebooters, and only from the official list. We prefer to "home brew" our stars. I haven't had many complaints, at least not yet. :D

We use some sort of house 'FIELD GOAL' rule, the origins of which I have no friggin clue where it came from.

Basically it makes TDs worth 3 and Field Goals worth 1. You use the sideline 3-directional scatter to determine the direction and 2D6 the distance. If you get it between the hatchmarks off the endzone, you get a FG. otherwise it uses off the pitch and thrown back in. Kick allowed a +1 or -1 to the scatter (because normally 1-2, left, 3-4, straight, 5-6 right becomes 1-left, 2-5 center, 6 right)

It was an OK rule. Helped cut down on 'TIES' and allowed people stuck with 1-2 turns left with MV 5 players to do something.

House Rrules in my league

1. Pass sequence is Pass, Intercept, Catch (instead of Intercept, Pass, Catch)
2. WHen a player is push back & downed int to the crowd the attacking player gets to roll for armor and if seccessfull injury and casulty roll (this counts for spp's)if the player is ko'd or worse the crowd live him alone if stunned or just prone the normal crowd rulle sets in and ponds the poor guy.
3. Werewolf gets regenerate instead of catch
4. you can buy of a freebuted player (not star players) on the end of the game (note that your freebooter doesn't use RR's in that game) - good thing about it is that you don't have to have enough money for your expancive position player or BG and if something bad happens like a niggling injury you don't have to buy him of.
5. Freebooters (not star players) gether Spp's.

We used to have a rull that you could exchange a pass for a 2nd hand-off
but that was a broken rull (lizardmen became to powerfull)
