D, I have the same 8-person-league issue you have where occasionally we have players not show up for games (we run biweekly sessions, 2 games per session on a fixed schedule) so occasionally we have players show up w/o an opponent to play as well. I was thinking of running some BB7 myself for those players as a type of "side league" where people could create BB7 rosters and play either when two people both have opponents not show, or during our dinner break if they choose, or whatever. Something different for the guys in my group who have never played any BB variants.
We try and enforce the "once you're done, you're done" rule as well with regards to moving players, but we are fairly lenient overall. If you say you're done moving someone, you can't suddenly say "wait, i wanted to move someone else first", even if you havent done anything else. But at the same time, we usually allow situations like
"I'm going to throw a 2d block at this guy"
"You realize I have 2 assists there and that's 2d MY choice, not yours, right?"
"Oh, crap. OK, I'm going to move these guys first to cancel the assists, one has guard, NOW it's 2d my choice"
"Fair enough"
FUMBBL lets you see what the dice rolls will be before you roll them, and if the coach doesnt see something properly we'll let him correct for the mistake - again, provided no dice have been rolled yet.
DesTroy's snake-eyes armor rule made me laugh
