Construction and dice questions

Post by lordmetroid »

I haven't really played any games on my own but I watched a whole lot of my friends play. And so I decided to draft a Goblin team while my brother does Dwarfs. Mainly because all these cool secret weapons. I know Goblins are fragile little critters. But I want to play them anyway.

I have been thinking, it seems that the squares on the field might be too small for knocked down big guys. Aren't they? As I haven't started the construction of a really nice playing field. I would like to know. Shall I make each square the size of a small round base or should I create it as big as a big base?

As I haven't really played yet, I don't know how big the pass template is. However if I'm going to make bigger squares I would need to modify it anyway. From what one can percept from the images in the rulebook, one level is the size of 5 squares... Correct?

I also saw some kick ass custom dice. Where can I get those? The ebay store wasn't running no more .

So shall I make bigger squares or should I do small squares still?

to my knowlegde, standard squares are 29mm across. That's actually larger than a normal "small" base, but yes can be not big enough to house some big bases... I have a friend with a non-GW ogre team and he can barely fit 5 ogres side by side on the LoS within the wide zones - and that's SEVEN squares wide. So playing his team can be a bit annoying since they are so large.

what do you mean by "5 levels" in regards to the passing template? you mean what each band is, like quick pass, short, etc? The Quick/Short/Long bands are each 3.5 squares in length, the Long Bomb band is only 2.5 squares in length.

Thank you, then I will make my squares a little bit bigger then they normally are.

Also I appreciate the information on the pass template.

The squares are slightly less than 29mm (not by a lot, but enough that a board containing all 29mm squares would be off for passing), and also, not all the "squares" are the same size.
