Defensive Setups
What defensive setups do you guys use with your teams vs other teams, Ill collect them in time and update this post accordingly depending on the style of race your playing against!

This?
That is also something I used almost exclusively. I have recently moved onto a slight variation ... bunching the LoS together:
I have found this protects the central lane better, which is the obvious weakness of such a setup. Bunched together, your opponent has less opportunity to set up second and subsequent blocks if the first fails. The bunching also means that if even one block results in a push, dodges might be required to pass the LoS.
Obviously when facing Frenzy, you must tuck in the furthest forward player in each widezone:
I use these setups pretty much all the time. The only time I might not is if I have a serious ST advantage. For example, this works well for Undead against all ST3 teams (e.g. Amazons):
Code: Select all
-----------------
....|.O.O.O.|....
....|.......|....
.O..|O.....O|..O.
.O..|O.....O|..O.
Code: Select all
-----------------
....|..OOO..|....
....|.......|....
.O..|O.....O|..O.
.O..|O.....O|..O.

Code: Select all
-----------------
....|..OOO..|....
....|.......|....
..O.|O.....O|.O..
.O..|O.....O|..O.

-----------------
....|..ZZZ..|....
....|.......|....
.Z..|M.W.W.M|..Z.
.G..|.......|..G.

Well, both set ups have their advantages. In the one I presented the opponent will have to invest more players into knocking your LOS guys down as he can't just use 4 guys to hit them one by one each on assisted by the previous one (a tactic that is pretty common in my league)Nazgit wrote: That is also something I used almost exclusively. With Lizzies i sometimes use:
o=saurus, x=skink
especially when I roll a double and can get frenzy on a saurus, which will then be replacing the last skink, needing a krox on the LOS.
Code: Select all

If somebody had some spare time and wanted to do this up with graphics (maybe FUMBBL icons?) that would be AWESOME.

Using wood elf i set up in order to protect expensive players and prepare to flood the opponents half with players.
Since i am faster than any opponent i see no need to try and stop him.
The fastest catcher should go just behind the treeman:
L=Lineelf
T=Treeman
C=Catcher
W=Wardancer
P=Thrower(passer)

Something like this do?MattShepherd wrote:If somebody had some spare time and wanted to do this up with graphics (maybe FUMBBL icons?) that would be AWESOME.

I could mock out all the layouts put on here in this style no probs. Could probably go so far as to put the little Javabowl dudes on the grid (and rescale it) if someone could link me to them.
Obviously I can scale this down to any size.

personally ive always been a fan of using the playcreator Flash app to mock up plays and setups. http://tinyurl.com/8sttn
if i werent lazy i would just screenshot and post the image, but the link works just as well
Altho I admit, the majority of people would probably benefit most from Fumbbl screencaps
