with my Ogre team I lately made a new setup - but it needs 8 ogres, so some development needed before
here it is:
_ _ _ _ l O _ O _ O _ O l _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ l _ _ _ _ _ _ _ l _ _ _ _
_ _ _ O l _ _ _ _ _ _ _ l O _ _ _
_ O _ _ l G _ _ G _ _ G l _ _ O _
or this one - depends on opponents players:
_ _ _ _ l O _ O _ O _ O l _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ l _ _ _ _ _ _ _ l _ _ _ _
_ _ O _ l _ _ _ _ _ _ _ l _ O _ _
_ O _ _ l G _ _ G _ _ G l _ _ O _
it makes almost unbreakable LoS and with skills like Sidestep on goblins it is very good even against BGs.

Nine out of ten goblins wouldn't miss it for a one-way Troll Air ticket to the end-zone!

it's not unbreakable at all. Any st4's on the team make it obviously easy to get an advantage against a 4-ogre LoS, and even without it all you need to do is start on one end and work your way down with a stacked offensive LoS. IMO the most effective Ogre LoS is stacked 6 or more, and certainly not spaced every other square

My preference (outside of other factors such as Frenzy) is:
With the back players tending to change position quite a bit depending on the opposition. Stand Firm or higher strength players are valued for the flank players
The formation also changes slightly when you want to protect vulnerable players lurking in the widezones and have expendable players (Necro are the chief team I use that for).
It allows an aggressive attack on the back field, and attempts to channel the opposition into the middle.
I tend to find the formation highly adaptable.
Code: Select all
-----------------
....|.O.O.O.|....
.O..|.......|..O.
..O.|O.....O|.O..
....|O.....O|....

hi honeycomb kid - as you can see, Rob wanted different races, so I wrote about my ogre team.... And yes - I use this setup because they are ST5. Gobos would be bad there in place of Ogresbrowwnrob wrote:What defensive setups do you guys use with your teams vs other teams, Ill collect them in time and update this post accordingly depending on the style of race your playing against!
Rob

to Ravage: sure - LoS with 6 Ogres is surely unbreakable, but your gobos are not safe - if you play some

Well, this setup would enable me to blitz your fastest catcher in my first turn with that tackle/MB blitzer type I have right? Just takes one succesfull block against either of the linefodder linos and a blitzing lane is opened. Would not be my choice, though I do agree with you that against most opponents Woodies can get away with leaving the flanks open when choosing to protect the positionals.slup wrote:Using wood elf i set up in order to protect expensive players and prepare to flood the opponents half with players.
Since i am faster than any opponent i see no need to try and stop him.
The fastest catcher should go just behind the treeman:L=LineelfCode: Select all

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

The bonus is when you have tackle i have side step on the linos at the line so i can move to where i would be most in the way and guard on the treeman makes it a 1-die block (assuming he is not knocked down)Cloggy wrote:Well, this setup would enable me to blitz your fastest catcher in my first turn with that tackle/MB blitzer type I have right? I usually go with:
This is to avoid getting pushed out or to the sideline. The x players are normally protected. Together with the two on the far sides, they can attack recievers or a fast ballcarrier. I've found it important to avoid getting all players tied up in turn 1.
If there's some chance I can avoid getting the LOS knocked over, the middle four (or even all eight) can be moved one step forward.
Code: Select all

....|..OOO..|....

.O..|x.....x|..O.
