Vault Rules

Post by tokenwhiteboy »

Okay, this might be a little off the mark. It seems to me that there has been a lot of work put in on the Vault rules. the impression I get is that the vault rules are likely going to be the next set of Blood Bowl rules.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I guess the big one that I am interested in knowing is the change from SPPs determining league standing to a entirely money based version

Well that is defintely one of the best parts of the rules, and the one most universally accepted. The old system of Team Rating was horribly inaccurate. You could have a load of players on 50SPP and be giving loads of handicaps to a team with players on 31SPP, even though both would have the same number of skills. TR did not account for stat increases. TR also punished players for earning more SPP even when they might never get another skill roll.

In the Vault/PBBL system of Team Value, you pay for what you get.

Yep, that's pretty much it.

So Toppy actually gives you Calgary guys the right to speak once in a while?

Actually, Toppy didn't give me the right at all, I have always been very outspoken, as any one on our board knows. I deal with our website and if these rules are going to come to pass, I will need to make some major changes to our code. Also as we, AbBBA, have always stated, we will be up to date on our rules. Therefore, with the changes coming we would like to be as prepared as we can be when we host our tournament, The Alberta Appocalpyse Challenge.

Last word from JJ was that PBBL will become the LRB 5.0 between October 2006 and October 2007. So you got a bit yet before they are official.

Of many things in the Vault the change from Team Rating to Team Value as done with PBBL 1.10 is a change that I've seen a lot of leagues move to already ... its the only PBBL effect already programmed into FUMBBL (for the most part) for example ... so of the PBBL changes ... the Team Value one has been fairly well received.

I'd also like to state that we (AbBBA) are starting to try the PBBL rules, & so far I'm loving them. I'll admit that when the topic of the vault rules first came up I didn't want to change the rules at that point and found the whole discussion acrimonious & chaotic - so I avoided it.

Good work to GALAK & everyone else who contributed - I'm seeing some GREAT changes to the game & hopefully we'll have some feedback for PBBL soon. :D
