The main problem I can see is that if you give a catcher high values of Ball Handling, he also becomes a great thrower - is this the desired result?
You mean like the already are >:) I mean I sometimes use my pro elf catcher to draw the play to one side but keep a blitzer or heck even a lineman free on the other side of the field to throw the ball to. I hardly ever have a problem with an elf throwing, <Ok so the Pro Elf catchers are cheater NoS gits but with a wood elf or high elf I would just dodge away from TZ's and make the throw anyway.>

I have revisited this idea as I have thought a bit more about it. One of the problems with the 3ed and later versions is that the scale of the attributes was scaled down to fit the GW d6 system found in all their games. 2ed had ST go up to 8, most BGs started with ST7 and humans had a range of 2-4. The current attributes have too small a range (all elves having AG4) so since you'd have to rewrite all the rosters anyway with adding a new attribute, it might be better just to change the scale of the current attributes. I know there are people who would suggest d10 or d20 but I don't think the range needs to be that big and a new die added to the box set would add to the cost of production. I say that keeping the 2ed 1-8 scale would work well and you would use the d8 that already comes in the box (the 2d6s would still be used for armour rolls, KO table, etc).
So instead of adding a new attribute just for ball handling, just increase the range of the attributes to 1-8 and be sure that each race has a starting range they operate in for each attribute (similar to the way it was in 2ed). Elves could have different AG numbers for each position (linemen being lowest, blitzers being the average, and throwers and catchers having the highest). This might be a better solution for making the rosters more balanced and gives more of an opportunity for variety, especially within humaniod race rosters (no need for the cookie cutter rosters of 'zons and Norse).

i like the idea of increasing stat range. would make all rosters more fun i think. making it more possible to make those boring 2-3 position rosters more varied....in 2nd there was Goblin linemen and Goblin catchers....but we all know that a starting AG4 goblin would be overpowered....but with a bigger range for the stats, its posible to do this, without making it overpowered..
